On a cloudy Sunday morning, everyone was up and out of bed. Adriana was making a delicious omelet with cream cheese bagels. She called down Paige and Leslie to eat, both of them were getting dressed. Both of the girls couldn't wait to eat their mom's breakfast. Paige quickly walked down the stairs, holding a comic book in her hands.

"What are you reading there sis?" Leslie asked. "It looks cool!"

"It's about an infection that breaks out and kills everyone!" Paige said.

"That sounds scary... you don't think that will ever happen? Right?"

"Of course not sis, it's just a made up story."

Everyone sat down to eat breakfast. Paige was still reading her comic book. She wondered about Leslie's question for a moment. Zombies aren't real. There's no way an actual infection could break out any minute and kill everyone. That's all just nonsense.

"So, you figured out what college interests you, Paige?" Gordon asks.

"Not yet dad, I'm still looking for a major," Paige answered. She was getting annoyed by all these college questions. It wasn't that she was looking for a major, she just didn't know how to tell her parents college isn't the best option for her.

"You better look soon! Your mother and I have spent years saving up for you!"

"Hun please, just let her decide what she wants to do in her life!" Adriana exclaims. "Besides, there are a lot of successful people out there who never-"

Gordon slams on the kitchen table, scaring Leslie. It's always an argument about college. Every time someone mentions it, all hell breaks loose.

"No! She's going! I don't care about other people Adriana, what I care about is Paige getting a proper education! The last thing I need is her ending up on the streets, begging for money and food."

"I lost my appetite," Paige says, putting her food away. "I'm not gonna argue about this dad! If I can't find anything soon I'm not going!"

Paige slams her door shut, she lets out a big sigh when she tosses herself onto her bed. She was starving but she couldn't bear to eat with all the stress.

"I don't understand why he's like this!" Paige says to herself. "He can't just force me to go somewhere I'm not ready for!"

Paige stops for a moment when she hears a knock on the door. It was Leslie.

"Hey Paige, I wanted to check up on you. I hate to see you stressed," Leslie said.

"You don't understand sis, once you get older parents start putting pressure on you!" Paige continues. "Get a job, go to college, get good grades, etc! It's all bullshit."

"I thought you wanted to make mommy and daddy proud? Isn't that why you've always studied and got a job to save money?"

"I only did it for them! Not for myself! They don't care about what I want, they only care about me being successful so I can work for them. It's fucking horrible."

Finishing up the conversation, Paige and Leslie heard screaming next door. They believed it was their mother. Shotguns were going off as well.

"Leslie... don't move," Paige said.

"W-what? W-why?" Leslie asked, scared. "What's going on?"

"I don't know, but I'm gonna find out."

Paige opened the door, she could see her mother on the ground. Her arm looks like it was bitten, Gordon luckily shot whatever was outside. Paige covered her mouth, she could feel the tears start forming and falling onto her cheek.
