As we all walked back downstairs, I noticed the three people James mentioned were sitting by the table as well. Looks like they came back from scavenging. One of the girls I saw was Liana. She had smooth vanilla skin, dark blue eyes, black hair that was a perm, and she was wearing a blue dress with boots. The other one was Lexi. She had grayish eyes, brown curly hair, dark skin, and she was wearing plain white shoes with a black shirt. Then there were supposed to be two boys but there was only one. Bryson I believe was his name. He had caramel like skin, dark eyes, dark wavy hair, and he wore a white shirt with a denim jacket over it. Last was Levi, I was told he had blonde wavy hair, gray eyes, and also was wearing exactly what Bryson was wearing. I think Levi was still out scavenging.
By the look of Bryson, he seemed like a jackass. He wouldn't stop staring at my sister and I when he first walked into the dining room. He then winked at me, I was getting very pissed by how he was acting. But I simply had to ignore his actions. I already hate this place. We all sat down, waiting for the pies to be done.
"So... who is this beautiful chick huh?" Bryson jokingly asks. "Didn't know you found yourself a girlfriend Jamie! She's smoking hot!"
"Dude c'mon! Don't say shit like that in front of everyone," James said. "Especially not in front of her little sister, show some respect."
"Sorry Jamie, a man can't resist beauty," He winked at me again. I'm getting sick and tired of looking at this guy's face. I had no choice but to flip him off. I raised my middle finger right to his face, he still didn't care.
"Anyways James, how long are you thinking about letting these two stay at our cabin? I still don't know if we can trust them," Amara continued on. "You know how I get with new people."
"Look sis, I already talked to Paige about everything. She insisted on staying with us for one, it will be safe for her and Leslie. Besides, I trust them."
"Yea... I have to agree with James here on this one," Liana said. "I really do see these girls as people who need our help. It's not like they want to hurt us or anything."
"It would be nice to have a place to stay at least," Leslie interrupted. "I just don't wanna be anywhere near the dead." We all looked at Leslie, I'm surprised my little sister views them as dead. I mean she's not wrong considering how I saw my own mother. She looked pretty dead to me.
"Dead? Is that what you both call them?" Lexi asked.
"Well, I mean... these things aren't technically living right? I've read comics about it, this virus first breaks out then everyone is exposed causing them to go crazy. Eventually to the point everyone starts eating each other's brains," I explained. "It isn't pretty from what I saw..."
"And what exactly did you see out there?" James asked.
"My... own mother. She turned and then- never mind it's too much."
"Paige, it's okay if you want to share with all of us."
"No, I'm sorry I-" I started tearing up, the memory keeps coming back. My dad screaming for me to run, Leslie crying, my mother on the ground looking all gory and bloody. My hands started shaking, I couldn't even speak.
"Oh! You hear that? I think the pies are done, why don't we all change the subject for now? I'm sure we can talk about family situations later," Lexi stated.
We all went by what Lexi said, everyone ate while I didn't touch any of the pie. I just didn't feel like eating. My sister went through the entire thing, she kept asking for seconds. Apples are truly her favorite.
"So Paige, do you have a boyfriend? Or is my boy James over here your boyfriend?" Bryson asked. "For me, I had many girlfriends back in high school. Fucked pretty much all of them." James sighs, he really wanted Bryson to shut up.
