It been a few weeks since Rumani had came down to the block. Not that she didn't like it or nothing it just wasn't her forte. She never asked Roman to go with him again and Roman never offered. But her and Ddot been on the phone almost everyday, they clicked well. It would be some days where he was really moody and they just sat in silence for hours, but Rumani didn't mind at all.
"Mani come on so I can take you to school." Her father announced coming into her room after knocking. Even though her door was wide open he still respected her space. Rumani gave him a quick okay and slid on her black crocs.
The girl contemplated on bringing both her track bag and her actual school bag, she didn't want to deal with both bags today. Rumani just stuffed what she could in the track bag and left it at that. Rumani made her way to the kitchen and grabbed her water bottle that she made the night before. She was about to say bye to Roman until she realized he wasn't in the house. The girl shrugged and went to the car.
"I'm not gonna be able to make it to your meet today." Rumani's father told her. Even though they weren't blood related, he still did the task a father should do and more. Like show up to her sports events.
"It's okay." Rumani shrugged not really caring, it was very rare if anyone showed up to her meets. Roman barely knew what was going on with her, he was always busy on the streets. The two barely had a conversation, but she knew he cared for her.

"We don't have to be ready until four and since the meet is here you guys can go home or stay here." Their coach explained. "Just be back before four or y'all ain't running." The coach warned the team.
Rumani decided to go to the deli and grab some Gatorade and a chopped cheese. It was 2:00 so it would've digested by time she ran. The girl grabbed her backpack and walked to the closest deli which meant she had to walk past where everyone usually hung out.
"Mani what you doin down hea my heart?" She head Keem yell from across. Rumani rolled her eyes before crossing the street where everyone was at.
"I'm going to the deli to get some food, just got out of school." Rumani told him answering the question.
"Why you take this way?" Roman asked.
Rumani huffed they were playing twenty one questions with her and she didn't have the patience, "I'm going back ta school, I have a track meet at four. I just need somethin' ta eat." The girl tried to answer all the questions anyone would possibly need to ask.
