Chapa POV:
I woke up feeling uneasy. The events of the previous night weighed heavily on my mind. I got dressed and turned on Psycho, an old-school horror movie that I loved for its classic suspense. It was Saturday morning, and I had a lot to process. The visit to ShadowWoman, the thing about her daughter, and the uncertainty of what lay ahead—all of it was overwhelming.
I tried to focus on the film, but my thoughts kept drifting back to the asylum and ShadowWoman's words.
I had plans to visit my parents and Sage later, and then meet up with Elena, but for now, I needed some peace and alone time. I sat on the couch, clutching a cup of tea, hoping it would calm my nerves. The warmth of the cup felt comforting against my palms, but my mind remained restless.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I glanced at the clock—11 AM. Who could it be at this hour? I walked to the door and opened it to find Miles standing there.
"Hey, can I come in?" Miles asked.
"Yeah, sure," I replied, stepping aside to let him in. The familiar sight of him brought a small sense of relief.
Once inside, Miles got straight to the point. "Do you have any news from your visit to ShadowWoman?"
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before speaking. "ShadowWoman said her powers come from a chip that her husband designed. He worked at the company where they made it, but he was killed, presumably by the government, for his outstanding idea. She broke into the building, stole the prototype, and implanted it herself to take revenge. She also told me the new villain is her daughter, and that her daughter knows my identity. She warned me that her daughter would come after my loved ones if I fight back, but she could've made it up to mislead us."
Miles looked shocked, even though it wasn't entirely surprising. "Wow, that's a lot to take in. I think she's not lying though. Villains and especially ShadowWoman like some drama and action."
I shrugged. "Yeah probably. Do you think it's possible to look into her files or something? To find more information about her which might reveal her daughter's identity."
Miles thought for a moment, his brow furrowing. "I can probably only find her name and age. Other information might be harder to get. I'll text you later with whatever I find."
"Okay," I nodded, feeling a bit helpless but grateful for his support.
"Did you have any difficulties while you were there or afterward?" Miles asked, his concern evident in his voice.
"It wasn't a big deal. I managed," I said, trying to sound more confident than I felt. The truth was, ShadowWoman's threats had shaken me more than I wanted to admit.
I hesitated but finally asked, almost in a whisper, "How's Bose doing after the incident?"
Miles grinned.
"What?" I asked, feeling a bit embarrassed by his reaction.
"Nothing," he said, then answered my question. "He slept at the Man's Nest last night. Mika gave him some medicine to speed up his recovery."
"Oh, good," I said, not knowing what else to say. I'm full of guilt for not helping Bose out when he had to fight ShadowWoman's daughter.
"I have to leave soon to visit my parents and Sage," I told him, hoping to change the subject.
"I can teleport you," Miles offered.
"That's great," I said, feeling a bit more at ease with his offer. I quickly packed my stuff, double-checking to make sure I had everything. The weight of the past night's revelations still hung over me, but I pushed it aside for now.
