Chapter Five

SOOOOO.

Here's the thing. I wasn't going to upload this chapter, because I really wasn't too happy with the way it turned out. BUT, I tweaked it, and I'm relatively happy with it now.

I KNOW. I have been MIA. Truthfully after finals I needed a break from everything mentally, I was so drained. So, I took some time to myself, and really focused on honing my writing skills and how exactly I wanted this book to play out. I had so many ideas for this book I started getting a little overwhelmed if I'm honest.

So, I took a month and organized my thoughts, and really focused on my style of writing. I'm very critical of everything I write, something I'm working on, whenever I would get a chapter done i would read it, and then end up rewriting it ten times over until I just ended up trashing it.

Like I said I'm working on it.

THAT BEING SAID. I don't have a regular posting schedule per say, but I am going to try and post every week, or every week and a half. My work schedule changes every week so I will try to be as consistent as possible.

I also want to thank everyone that's taken the time to read my story! Really you are the reason I even gave this story the chance it deserves. I love all the feedback and this past month I've spent getting familiar with this website and all the tricks in the book, so i'm finally comfortable enough to continue writing on this platform!

I hope you enjoy the chapter, and Draco's brief POV. It felt kind of boring bc no dramione in this one. BUT, next chapter training starts! and lets just say, i'm excited!

Summer 1996

The room reverberated with the unsettling sounds of gurgling, his body lay still, submerged in a sea of blood and despair. His gaze drifted upward, piercing through the haze of smoke that clouded his vision. His eyes focused loosely on the crystal chandelier twinkling above him. His mouth moved soundlessly, a futile attempt to draw in oxygen as his broken chest filled with blood. The faint rattling of shattered bones and blood intermingling filled his senses. The distant echoes of people shouting barely registered in his consciousness, drowned out by the cacophony of pain,

His eyes grew heavy, and his strength waned. The edges of his vision began to blur. Breathing became laborious, each inhale and exhale became a desperate plea for relief. And yet amidst the blood, the death rattle breathing, the agony and suffering, he felt numb, no regret, no last-minute pleas for life.

As the last vestiges of his consciousness slipped away, he found solace. There was no light at the end of the tunnel, no memories of his life, no final regrets filled his head as he took what was likely the last of his breaths into the world--- just the quiet peace of oblivion. And as he drew in one final, labored breath, he welcomed the embrace of death with a broken smile.
