SLAP!
I take a slap to the face. "Why can't you just solve it already," she yelled. I winced, my cheek stinging from the pain. What did I do to deserve this...?
The door opens abruptly, "Can you both stop," he shouts. "Sorry," the woman mumbled, not a single ounce of sincerity in the apology. I watched closely as they both rush out of the door. Now alone, I got up from the ground, slightly shaking, and tumbled to an office chair placed near a small window. I stare out, five stories high... I shake my head, stopping myself from going into a daze. I look at my watch, 4:00. I should head back now...
I walk out the obnoxiously long doorway and walk through the endless corridors. Will the hallways ever end?
I finally make my way out of that building. While walking, various peculiar things went on in the outside world. A car accident, an antique shop now closed, and the big hands of the clock in my mind had stopped ticking. The world had become dimmer again. Day by day, the colors slowly get drained, bearing a familiar gray. It feels as if I am living in a fantasy, like none of this is real.
I eventually get to my apartment to find my roommate, waiting for me patiently. She gives me a warm smile, "Welcome home~" I scoff, "Can you not...." Her long black hair glistens at the mere light of ceiling lamps, eyes having a bright sparkle in them like jewels, and a denim jacket over her long white dress. Seeing her just puts a smile on my face.
"So... How was work~?" She asks, trying to strike a conversation. I sigh, "It was," I paused before continuing. Do I tell the truth? No. I shouldn't. I don't want her getting involved. "Great."
"Hm..." She squinted her eyes and leans forward a bit, trying to read me, "And how do I know you're not lying?" Of course, always suspecting me of lying. "Just trust me," I responded.
"Hmph," She gives me a slight pout, "Well, dinner is on the dining table! I'm gonna take a shower and head to bed..." Huh? She gave off a slight somber feel when saying that. "Hey, uh.." I pause to realize that she already left. I shrug it off and head to the dining table, she's probably just having problems with friends or something, girl drama. I devour my food in merely seconds, my mouth practically inhaling it. I grab a plastic water bottle and chug it empty as I headed over to the couch and flop lazily on it. I reach for the remote but my arm couldn't reach so far. I let out a huff of defeat as I manually stand up to get the remote.
As I turn it on, a random show with a bunch of idols immediately turns on. Huh? Was she watching this? I stare for a moment at the idols dancing. There were two in particular that caught my eye. The first one had long dark blue pigtails, sapphire for eyes, and a blue and yellow color scheme. The other had a more teal shade of blue for hair, a messy bun, and red and blue eyes. She seemed to have more of a red and blue color palette. They both wore the same uniform, with accessories corresponding to their respective colors. The teal one wore a large white and red jacket over hers for some reason. I watch as the characters dance along with some sort of anime type song. They looked inhumane in a way. As if they were fictional...
I shake my head to catch myself out of that odd daze. Why was I staring for so long..? It was as if they were sirens, luring me in with their almost delectable song. I quickly turned off the TV and headed to my room.
I tumble over to my room and flop onto the bed, embracing the smell of my pillow while I'm at it. I turn myself over and stare at the ceiling. My body tenses up. The air around me feels cool. Too cool. The AC isn't on. I feel someone's eyes being laid upon me without my consent. I freeze.
