Bella’s fingers trembled as she read the message again. Her mind raced with possible escape plans, but every idea seemed futile. The towering skyscrapers and bustling streets of New York now felt like a maze, trapping her within its cold embrace.

She grabbed her coat and hurriedly packed her things, thinking she might find safety in numbers. She needed to get out, to disappear before they found her. The stairwell seemed like the best option; elevators were too risky. As she descended, the sound of her footsteps echoed in the empty stairwell, amplifying her fear.

Bella pushed open the door to the lobby and scanned her surroundings. Everything appeared normal, but she knew danger lurked in the shadows. She slipped out into the night, heading towards the subway station. She hoped she could blend in with the late-night commuters and lose her pursuers.

As she descended the steps into the subway, she felt a strange mix of relief and dread. The platform was sparsely populated, and the next train was minutes away. Bella glanced around nervously, keeping a close eye on anyone who might pose a threat.

Suddenly, a hand clamped over her mouth, and she was pulled into a dark corner. She struggled, her muffled screams going unheard in the dimly lit station. Panic surged through her as she tried to break free, but her assailant was too strong.

“Keep quiet,” a low voice hissed in her ear. “We don’t want to hurt you.”

Bella’s heart raced as she recognized the voice. It was Marco Rossi, Enzo DeLuca’s right-hand man. Her eyes widened in terror as she realized she had no way out.

“Enzo wants to see you,” Marco said, his grip tightening. “Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.”

Before Bella could protest, Marco pulled her towards a black SUV idling outside the subway station. He shoved her into the backseat, and she found herself face-to-face with the man she had been running from.

Enzo DeLuca’s piercing blue eyes locked onto hers, a dangerous mix of curiosity and annoyance in his gaze. He was even more imposing up close, his presence filling the confined space of the car.

“Isabella Romano,” he said, his voice smooth but cold. “You’ve caused quite a stir tonight.”

Bella swallowed hard, trying to summon the courage to speak. “Please, I won’t tell anyone. I didn’t see anything.”

Enzo’s lips curled into a faint smile. “But you did see something, and now you’re in the middle of a situation you can’t escape from.”

Bella’s mind raced, searching for something, anything, that could save her. “I swear, I won’t go to the police. Just let me go, and I’ll disappear.”

Enzo leaned back, studying her intently. “You think it’s that simple? You’ve seen too much. You’re a liability.”

Bella’s breath hitched as the gravity of her situation sank in. She was at the mercy of a ruthless mafia boss, and there was no way out.

“You have two choices,” Enzo continued. “You can cooperate and stay alive, or you can try to run and face the consequences.”

Bella’s fear was palpable, but she forced herself to meet his gaze. “What do you want from me?”

Enzo’s eyes softened ever so slightly, but his tone remained firm. “For now, you’re coming with us. We’ll figure out what to do with you later.”

The SUV started moving, and Bella’s heart sank as the city lights blurred past. She was being taken deeper into the underworld, further away from the life she once knew. As the car sped through the dark streets, she wondered if she would ever see the light of day again.

They drove for what felt like hours, the tension in the car thickening with each passing moment. Finally, they arrived at a secluded mansion on the outskirts of the city. The imposing structure loomed in the darkness, its grandeur tainted by an air of danger.

Marco escorted Bella inside, his grip on her arm firm but not painful. They led her through a labyrinth of hallways until they reached a luxurious room. Marco pushed her inside and locked the door behind her.

Bella looked around, her mind racing with thoughts of escape. But as she examined the room, she realized there was no way out. She was trapped, a captive in Enzo DeLuca’s world.

Exhausted and overwhelmed, Bella sank onto the plush bed, her thoughts swirling in a chaotic mix of fear and uncertainty. She had no idea what the future held, but one thing was clear: her life would never be the same again.
