Fourth of July [Kagami Taiga x Reader]

You sip more of your [favorite flavor] smoothie, walking around with Kagami through the mall. You and him spent a few hours shopping already, getting ready for tonight. Buying items like decorations and food took longer than the two of you thought it would. One last store though, and you'd be done.

Of course, you would then need to set up and decorate for said occasion, but that wouldn't encourage you. Not at all.

"It's really nice that they're having all these sales, huh Taiga-kun?"

"Mm yeah, it's really convenient. I'm happy you convinced me to do all our shopping today."
You two laugh, although yours is a bit strained, you didn't intentionally leave all the shopping for the last possible minute, you just really forgot.

Kagami has been your best friend for a while now, and you loved learning and hearing about America and American customs and traditions, finding the differences so fascinating from what you were used to. You would spend a lot of time listening to his stories as he practiced or cooked, and it really wasn't long at all before your crush developed.

He was foreign, talented, funny, cute, very much fit with his muscular and drool worthy athletic body- er rather, he's handsome and extremely attractive. You had fallen really hard for the burger loving redhead. But you were rather okay with it, content to spend so much time with him.

One of the traditions that involves the occasion later on today was the Fourth of July. Highly confused but even more curious, you prodded and got every detail you could from him about it, and were celebrating it today.

The Fourth of July, when America broke free and won their independence from Britain. You loved how he got into his stories, there was no doubting that huge feeling of pride that would just radiate off of him in waves. It made you like him even more.

So the two of you were shopping, buying what you would need to recreate an American Fourth of July celebration. A barbeque and potluck, it was going to be at one of the many homes owned by your aunt's husband. You were sure Taiga would love it, it was large and spacey, and had a basketball court. Obviously it was the ideal location.

You were excited, you knew it'd be a lot of work but you also knew you wouldn't be doing it alone. Kagami constantly assured you of everything, that it was a potluck so everyone would contribute to the food, and he would be manning the grill himself. He was also adamant that you wouldn't have to do any strenuous activities like moving furniture or hanging up the lights. He wasn't even letting you carry the shopping bags now. "Leave it all to me, I've got this!" He had said, obviously pumped. And how could you refuse? He was too cute to deny, and you were too love smitten anyway.

After buying more decorations from the last store, you two were finally heading home, and were taking this time to relax a bit before setting up.

When you reach the house, he gaped like a fish, "Wait this is the place? This is huge, it's amazing!" He picked you up and spun you a bit, and you were laughing, covering your face so he wouldn't see the big blush staining it.

"Yeah, well my aunt said it was fine that we could use it. My aunt married big and my uncle has all these different properties, and is a very lofty guy."

He brings in the shopping bags and you start getting to work. He sets up some tables in the backyard, and you place Fourth of July themed table cloths over them, white with red, white, and blue stripes and stars at the borders. For centerpieces you get beautiful jars- seventy five cents a piece since they were eighty percent off- and tie them around the rim with blue ribbon and fill them with different layers of red, white, and blue marbles. You also add some flags and cute sticks that had shooting stars attached on them, old decorations from previous years.
