A few years ago

Shubman has always been more on the introvert side. With the precarious expectations from his father and  his own self harming tendencies, it was not easy to let himself live upon.

Then he had to change schools, because the previous one had to be closed off for some official reasons.

He had never looked ahead for friends or even trying to make them.

He was afraid that he'll disappoint them too.

The first day he entered the classroom of his new school, he met Advik.

Advik was everything, he was not. An extreme extrovert, goofy, free spirited and blunt.

There was not a time when Shubman had not seen him smiling.

Advik made a friend out of Shubman in no time and Shubman also felt that he should give the companionship a try.

They both became fast friends, then best friends and people around were often envious of them.

A year went by like that, their class year ended when, they were not able to figure it out.

Shubman had also observed that Advik had a bit of a feminine streak.

He liked to wear jewellery, dresses and makeup and show them off.

Shubman had asked him once about it and he just smiled saying,

"I feel like myself in them"

Advik had a very slender figure too, once he acted in drama nad he had to be the princess, Shubman himself was not able to recognise him.

Advik was free but at the same time he was not.

His father, who was also their head teacher, often disapproved of alot of his doings.

Advik was free with him though, he would try out things to let Shubman choose for him.

Shubman as a teen, never thought any different, Advik was his best friend, and no matter his preference, he'll always be that.

He was naive though, when he couldn't see his best friend falling in love with the senior, Shishir, a class above them.

When Shubman would see Advik going out of his way to collide somewhere with Shishir, he would think of it as mere admiration.

He ignores the glances Advik would give Shishir, the blushing smiles and the shy  greetings.

He would ignore them all.

Maybe he was protecting himself.

But when Advik himself confronted it to Shubman, he could not ignore it any longer,

"So........ I like Shishir"

It was said so nonchalantly, Shubman for a second did not heed to it.

But when he did, till then Advik had declared something more,

"I'm gonna confess to him, I just have to find the right time"

Advik grumbled, and Shubman had to glance away at the stupid act of bravery Advik was going to put upon.

Shubman was taught alot of things, and liking guys was not one of them, it was unfamiliar and he didn't know how to act upon it.
