I could feel someone behind me as I turned my head fast, it was Officer Andrew as he spoke "You shouldn't be here,".

As Andrew approached me, Marcus tensed, his instincts on high alert. He had been keeping a watchful eye on me and now that Andrew was here, he felt the need to step in, to protect me from any potential harm. He approached the two of us, his eyes fixed on Andrew's face, his tone authoritative. "What are you doing here?"

Marcus stepped closer to me, positioning himself between me and Andrew, a subtle gesture of possessiveness and protection. His eyes were locked on Andrew, his expression guarded and wary.

"I am just wondering why she is here," he said.

Marcus clenched his jaw, his irritation at Andrew's presence growing by the second. He knew that I didn't need any distractions or unnecessary attention right now, especially from an officer of the law. He spoke up, his voice firm and commanding. "That's none of your concern."

"It is when our boss has told me," he replied.

Marcus's patience with Andrew was wearing thin. He didn't appreciate the guy's attitude or the fact that he was poking his nose into business that wasn't his. He stepped closer to Andrew, his voice low and dangerous. "Listen, pal. This doesn't concern you. Now back off."

My eyes widened "You were there," I said quietly.

Marcus's heart skipped a beat as I spoke. He had been so focused on Andrew that he had barely registered my words, but now he turned to look at me, his face etched with concern. "What did you say?" he asked quietly, his heart hammering in his chest.

"He was there, that night," I said as soon as the words left my mouth, Marcus's instincts kicked into gear. He saw Andrew start to run, and without hesitation, he chased after him. He moved with surprising speed, his legs pumping as he rushed forward, determination etched on his face. He was determined to catch up to Andrew, to get to the bottom of this.

He gained on Andrew quickly, his training and experience coming into play as he closed the gap between them. With a burst of speed, he made a flying tackle, launching himself at the fleeing officer and bringing him down to the ground with a hard thud.

Marcus landed on top of Andrew, pinning him to the ground with firm, unshakeable strength. He was breathing hard, adrenaline pumping through his veins. He looked down at the officer with cold, hard eyes, his voice barely above a growl. "You're not going anywhere," he said, his hands gripping Andrew's collar tightly

Andrew wriggled and squirmed beneath him, trying to break free, but Marcus had him firmly under control. He was stronger and more experienced, and he wasn't about to let the officer slip through his fingers.

He grabbed Andrew's arms and flipped him over, pinning him facedown on the ground with one knee on his back. He held him there, his weight pressing the officer into the dusty earth, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps.

Marcus leaned down, his voice low and dangerous, his breath hot against Andrew's ear.
"You're gonna tell me what you know, right now," he said, his hands tightening around the officer's wrists. "And I don't care how I have to make you talk."

"I didn't bury her, I was just there," Andrew pleaded.

Marcus's eyes narrowed, his grip on Andrew's wrists tightening even further. His voice was low and deadly. "What do you mean, you were 'just there'?"

"They were planning this for months, I don't know who they were okay? Elaine deserved it, that's all I know," Andrew said.

Marcus's chest tightened with anger and disgust as he listened to Andrew's words. The idea that I had been targeted, that someone had planned for me to be hurt, sent a wave of rage coursing through him. He leaned closer, his voice low and intense. "Who was planning it? Tell me their names."

"I don't know who they are!" He said.

Marcus growled, his grip on Andrew's wrists tightening even more. He was done with the officer's evasion and excuses. "Bullshit," he growled, his eyes flashing angrily. "You know more than you're saying, and I'm not going to let you go until you tell me what I want to know."

"Marcus, I don't know. They sent an anonymous tip to me months back, to try and find who she was. The night that was supposed to be her death, that kid Sam showed up to stop it, they killed him before she was anywhere near, all I know is that you wanted to take her home," Andrew said.

Marcus's eyes widened as he listened to Andrew's words, his mind struggling to process the information. His grip on the officer loosened slightly as the full weight of what he had said sank in. Someone had planned this attack, and they had targeted me specifically.

He cursed under his breath, his mind racing as he tried to piece together the details. "Why her?" he demanded, his voice a mixture of anger and confusion. "Why did someone want her dead?"

"She upset someone at the high school, that is all I know," He pleaded again.

Marcus's face darkened as he heard the officer's explanation. High school? Was this some kind of petty revenge on a kid who had made a mistake?

He took a deep breath, trying to control the wave of anger and confusion that was coursing through him. He needed to stay focused and keep his emotions in check.

"High school," he repeated, his voice heavy with scepticism. "And you expect me to believe that some kid at the high school is behind all this? A targeted attack on a young girl, and all it takes is some vague tip to rope you in?"

"I know it sounds crazy, I can show you the emails of the tip back at the station," he said loudly.

Marcus weighed the officer's words. He didn't trust Andrew as far as he could throw him, but if there were emails and other evidence at the station, it might be worth checking out. He took a deep breath, his grip on the officer loosening slightly. "Fine," he said, his voice hard. "But I'm not letting you out of my sight. You try anything funny, and you'll regret it."
