As he made his way towards Mae's locker, he couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency. He didn't know if he was on the right track or if he would even find anything useful, but he knew that he had to keep pushing forward.

Finally, he reached Mae's locker. It was closed and quiet, nothing about it seemed out of the ordinary. He looked around furtively, making sure that no one was watching him, before quickly opening the locker and riffling through its contents.

He found the usual high school girl items: a few textbooks, some notebooks, a couple of pictures tacked to the inside of the door. But nothing that stood out as suspicious or incriminating. He searched the rest of the locker, looking for any hidden compartments or secret compartments, but found nothing. He closed the locker, frustrated and angry at being no closer to uncovering the truth.

He took a deep breath, trying to stay calm and focused. There had to be something he was missing, some clue or hint that he hadn't seen yet. He couldn't let this lead turn into another dead end. Not with my safety on the line.

Marcus clenched his jaw, his mind racing with different possibilities. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed faintly down the hallway, breaking into his thoughts. His head snapped up, his senses immediately going on alert.

He moved quickly and quietly, pressing himself against the wall and slipping into the nearest classroom. He flattened himself against the wall, his body tense and ready, as he listened intently for the sound of the footsteps.

Marcus's eyes widened in surprise as he saw Andrew and Mae walking down the hallway together, their hands intertwined. It was a strange sight to behold, one that made his stomach churn with unease. What was the relationship between them? Was Mae involved in this mess more deeply than he had anticipated?

He watched them intently, his heart rate quickening as they walked closer and closer to his location. He knew he had to stay hidden, that they couldn't know he was there, but it took all his willpower to keep his body still and silent.

He strained his ears to listen as they continued down the hallway. From where he was hiding, he couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but the tone of their voices sounded hushed and conspiratorial.

"Do you think we are safe? I didn't want death or her to be hurt. I just wanted to teach Elaine a lesson," Mae said to Andrew.

Marcus could feel his anger and frustration growing as he overheard their conversation. It was clear that Mae was not as innocent as he had thought. She had been involved in this attack from the beginning and had likely been coerced into doing something terrible.

But who had coerced her? And why? He needed to keep listening, to try and glean as much information as possible, if he wanted to get to the bottom of this.

Andrew nodded "Look we just need to keep a low profile, Pike is already thinking I was properly involved. I think you need to tell him who you hired to teach Elaine a lesson and then it will be all over," Andrew spoke to Mae, trying to reassure her.

Marcus's eyes widened in shock and incredulity. It was even worse than he had thought. Not only was this girl involved in the attack, she had hired someone else to carry out the attack. It was a far greater conspiracy than he had imagined.

"If I tell him, we will be attacked. It's all one big circle Andrew," Mae said.

Marcus could feel his mind racing as he tried to process what he was hearing. This was all getting more and more complicated by the minute. But one thing was clear - there was a much larger and more dangerous force at play here than he had originally thought.

"We got one student killed, Sam was protecting Elaine before we even knew the plan. Did you plan for Sam to come? Did he know?" Andrew asked Mae, Mae soon enough nodded "He heard me on the phone an hour before his death, he knew what was going to happen and he knew who it was. But I didn't kill him, it was the people who I hired," Mae admitted a bit of it.

Marcus listened intently as Mae admitted her involvement in the attack and Sam's death. His mind was reeling as he tried to process all the information he was hearing. This was a far darker and more convoluted conspiracy than he could have ever imagined.

He clenched his fists, his anger and frustration boiling over. These people had orchestrated an attack, had killed a young boy in the process, and were now trying to cover it all up. It was sickening and infuriating all at the same time.

But he couldn't jump out at them, he couldn't reveal himself and risk ruining his chance to get to the bottom of this. He needed more information, he needed to know who these mystery hired goons were, and who was behind them.

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay focused. He needed to be patient, to wait for the right moment to make his move. He couldn't risk blowing his cover and letting these criminals get away with murder.

If you aren't going to say, we will just have to wait for Elaine's memory to come back. I think she saw more than she is letting on," Andrew said to Mae.

Marcus's heart jumped in his chest as he heard Andrew's words. Could it be possible that I had seen something that I hadn't realized was important? But memory loss was a fickle thing, and there was no telling when or if my memory would fully come back.

He silently cursed to himself, frustrated that he was so close, yet still seemed so far from the truth. But he knew he couldn't give up now. He had to keep pushing, to keep searching for clues and leads that would help him unravel this tangled web.
