Ashton and Kameron continued walking. Ashton patted his pockets just to be sure he had everything he thought he did.

Ashton tilted his head side to side to crack his neck, slightly grumbling as he shifted his shoulders. The backpack was heavy since he had everything he would put inside his locker in it. It was his first day in the new school, after all.

Ashton figured he should break the silence. "So, you got any plans for this year?" Ashton looked towards Kameron.

"Uhh, what do you mean?"

"Like- school and stuff. Just a vision on what to do."

"Uhh, I want a girlfriend, I guess? I just want to pull a hottie. Maybe a dude? I don't know, I don't care enough. Hot is hot I guess; I'm up for experimenting this year," Kameron replied, shrugging. Ashton snickered slightly. "And it could be nice to have a better group. The weird kids sucked. I want a group that acts like rabid crows, not depressed blobfishes." Ashton snickered again.

"Blobfishes? How kind, you seem to really like your old group," Ashton joked. "But same here, I guess. A fresh start would be nice."

Ashton looked back away, and placed a hand on Kameron's backpack as they turned the corner that led to the main city. Ashton didn't want to lose him somewhere. It was pretty funny to him how one simple turn led them from foresty area to big city, but it kind of made sense. Everything had probably been centralized around the Casino that opened up around here, he thought. Then more and more just got constructed around it, until houses surrounded the commercial area.

Ashton glanced around and slightly grimaced, trying to remember what direction McDonald's was in. He remembered a moment after Kameron stared at him with his lips pressed into a comical line and his eyebrows raised. They took the turn left and saw the McDonald's after a moment. Kameron giggled maniacally, and a stranger turned to give a slight look, then smirked in amusement. Ashton shrunk back in embarrassment, but Kameron didn't notice. Kameron was busy thinking about McDonald's.

Ashton's embarrassment quickly faded as he relished in the thought of some greasy fries. Damn, he could go for some McDonald's right now. Kameron undoubtedly felt the same way, as they both felt the same about McDonald's and most food in general. Large fry, ten nuggets. Kam always got an orange soda, Ashton always got sprite, both typically medium sized; unless it was summer or they were really thirsty, that's when Kameron and Ashton got large drinks. Neither boys liked burgers since they were picky, a trait they got from their aunt rather than either parents.

"I wish you could do the drive-thru on foot," Ashton complained.

"I couldn't give a less of a crap, we're getting McDonald's," Kameron replied excitedly. Ashton couldn't help but snicker a bit.

"Yeah, fair. Still."

After setting in a mobile order and picking up the food, Ashton and Kameron continued walking to their destinations: Junior High and Highschool.

I wonder what's going to happen today.

Ashton felt a rush of adrenaline at the thought, his heart suddenly pounding as he scarfed down a fry. He looked down, in thought. Kameron noticed this time.

"Ash," Kameron started, shifting the way he held his food. "You thinking?"

"Mm? Oh, yeah," Ashton replied. "Thinking what's gonna happen with us."

"Oh." Kameron looked to the side, shrugging. "Never know until you find out I guess," he finished carelessly.

I should take a thing or two from him and stop caring so damn much.
