Christopher

At the Upper West Side, Manhattan was a home filled with warmth, peace and happiness.

But the peace was short lived because as soon as Chris and Jennie reached home they got into an argument about whose going to tell mum first about their day at school.

"I'll listen to that kid first, who places their bag in place, takes a bath and gets downstairs in living room earlier.
Go on, its a race!!"
Mrs. Wystan said smiling.

Twins looked at each other and sprinted upstairs to be the first one.

While Chris was changing his clothes he realised that Jennie's room was closer to stairs.
And he was right. As soon as he got out of his room he saw, to his dislike, Jennie was on the last step.

She turned around and gave a fake evil laugh and made her way to the living room, "I'm first!!"

Chris huffs muttering, "not fair" while entering the living room too and sitting beside his mum while Jennie dives into a whole story time about her first day.

After she was done and it was Chris's turn he realised while telling his mother about his new friend that he, Edward, is really quiet. Like more than a new kid would be.

"Mum you know he was awfully quiet and reserved to himself. Didn't even talk during lunch" he voices his concern to his mother.

"Well maybe he was uncomfortable to be around such new people. You remember how you were when it was your first day in elementary school" Mrs wystan replied.

And he did remember his first day at elementary school. He was really nervous that no one was going to like him. But then, during games period, a boy with blond hair, Aaron, came up to him asking if he wants to play with him. They became friends so quickly. Aaron has moved out to a different city but Chris is still in contact with him.

This gave him an idea about how he was going to get Edward more comfortable.

For the next whole week he talked about anything and everything to find out just a little bit of what Edward liked or had interest in but Eddie just gave the same small replies of "Yes"s and "No"s.

On Friday, during maths, Chris was bored and he was doodling idly in his notebook. He looked next to him and saw Edward writing things down but by the look on his face he was equally bored.

Chris got an idea, 'do you like listening to songs Eddie?'
He scribbled in his notebook and passed it to Edward.
He gave him a questioning look before writing back a reply, 'yeah'.

'For how long have you liked songs?' Chris knew this was a stupid question but he had to keep the conversation going.

Edward raised an eyebrow at him, 'since I was little, 5 or 6 maybe.'

'Do you have a specific type?' He passed him the notebook again.

'Is this an interrogation about my music choices?' Ed replied.

'Yup, you're being interrogated by music police. Now answer the question' he makes and upward arrow to specify which question he's talking about.

Ed laughed a little at his response before replying, 'No. I just like them at random'

'Same! Tell me some of the songs you like'.
Edward gave a really annoyed sigh when notebook was passed back to him but wrote a reply nonetheless.

'I doubt you've ever heard them'

'Oh please, I've been listening to songs since I was 5'

Chris gave him a the notebook back giving him the look of "try me."
Edward shrugged and started writing while Chris gave himself a mental high-five, he had managed to find something Edward would be interested in talking about and now He'll find out his favorite songs.

Few secs later the notebook slid towards Chris again with a list of songs written on it.
He read the list seeing he infact has heard most of the songs. He was about to say, or rather write, this to Edward when the last song caught his eye.

'Always you by louis Tomlinson'

'I never heard that song before' he wrote

'Oh that one...it's um a bit ....uh special to me. Idk why I wrote it because it's not a happy song anymore'

Edward's expression clearly said it was a really touchy topic so Chris dropped it there and thankfully the bell rang.

It was their last class of the day and after taking their things from their lockers both boys were walking outside.

"Ed! Our songs choices match." Chris said suddenly "Maybe we can make a combined Playlist or something like that, so we can suggest and listen to new song"

Edward, having zoned out, jumped at his voice, "you need to stop being so abrupt"

Chris shrugged, "you need to stop zoning out. Anyway how is my idea?"

"It is good except for the fact that my mom won't give me her phone and dad is never home so.." Edward replied silently.

"Oh well I guess we'll have to think of something else"

"Mhmm" Edward hummed. "I do have an idea," he said really quietly.

"Yeah?!! What is it???" Chris practically jumped from joy. Edward was actually willing to open up and was giving ideas from his side.

Edward laughed at his excitement, "maybe I can give you the list of songs I like and their artists and you can add them in your Playlist when you get home and you do the same?"

"Oh yeah we can do that. You're a genius" Chris said while taking out his notebook and pen.

They both write down songs and exchange the lists just as Ed's dad's car could be heard honking.

"See you tomorrow chris"

"See you Ed"

Just as he reaches home first thing he does, after putting his bag in place, is grab his mother's phone and update his Playlist.

Little did he know, Eddie was doing the same thing as soon as he got back.
