Audrey stares in bewilderment as the portal blurs the night sky into a cloudy one. A strong smell of salty water enters her nose before seeing the clear baby blue waters around the ship. Within seconds, the clouds around her disappear, and an island appears.
On the right side of the island, Audrey sees a volcano that appears to be dormant with moss spread out towards several wild trees. Around the island is a sandy beach with no wildlife in sight.
'What is this place?' Audrey whispers in confusion.
Captain Amelia answers proudly, 'We are in the 2015 timeline. This universe is on the planet Earth and we are in Australia. The island you are looking at is called Mako Island. It is habitant by your host, Mimi Blakely, and her pod: the Mako Mermaids."
'When, who, what?' was all Audrey could think of asking but then she asked," And how does my grandmother know about these supposed mermaids?"
Before anyone could respond, they all go quiet as they see two lovely orange-red tails.
'These must be the Mako mermaids." Audrey thought as they all kept their eyes on the water.
One of the two mermaids has flowy chocolate brown hair, and the other has light pale blonde hair. Both swim rapidly from Mako island towards the ship's figurehead before seeing water shooting up from below.
"That is the signal!." Captain exclaims before barking out, "Bring down the lifeboat for Miss. Blakely and her companion."
A dog man salutes and says, "Ay, cap!" and gets to work pushing the lifeboat into the water.
Once they hear the thumbs of the mermaids entering the boat, they all wait until there is silence below.
"Alright, Smee! Bring them up!" Captain shouts, and the dog-man does as he is told.
Audrey's eyes widen as two lovely women in their thirties enter the ship dry and in human form.
'They can transform?' she thought as she took in their appearances.
The dark chocolate-haired woman is in a floral blue dress with white tennis shoes, and her thick wavy-long hair is styled in a side French braid. Her light blue eyes sparkle in delight as she tries to contain her excitement. Meanwhile, her blond-haired companion is in a red tank top with light blue high-water jeans and red flats, and half of her wavy hair is pinback by bobby pins.
"Hi! It is so nice to meet Aurora's daughter, Audrey-right?" the brunette asked before stating in a bubbly tone, "I am Mimi! This is my friend Sirena!"
The blonde-haired woman nods while Audrey sees a tortoise ring shine from her right hand.
"Sorry, King Stephen messaged us about your arrival and Mimi just couldn't help but accept. You will meet the rest of the gang later." Sirena states while smiling at Audrey.
Audrey smiles at the caucasian woman named Sirena as she embraces herself with an unexpected hug from a Hispanic woman named Mimi.
"Okay," Audrey says as she pushes Mimi's honey-brown arms away from her body. "So I am guessing you're friends with my father?"
"Nope!" Mimi states in excitement. "We are former friends of your mother. Princess Aurora! She visited us one summer ago. Unfortunately, she couldn't come back. But she did write to us often. Your father knew about us pen-paling each other and he was the one who made the arrangements for your stay!"
Audrey accepts her response before looking at Serine in shock as she witnesses the woman using her right hand to wave her belongings into a bubble. Within seconds, a clear bubble appears out of nowhere. The bubble floats before them as Serine's hand directs the clear bubble into the boat.
The princess wanted to ask about what she saw. But then Mimi put her right arm around Audrey's shoulder and off they went.
Back into the lifeboat and onto the water.
