A lovely sixteen-year-old mermaid floats in a small blue pool as she leans her pale arms around the edge of the circular waterbed. Her blue-green tail sways side to side as she waits for her childhood friend, Sofia Maine.

Her lovely light orange curls float around her like a halo as she thinks about her favorite Bridgeton Book series.

Last night, she finished re-reading the series book 2: The Viscount Who Loved Me. She wasn't a big fan of the main couple in this book due to their trope being an enemy-to-lovers. But it did have some scenes of her favorite couple: Polin: Colin Bridgeton and Penelope Featherington.

The Julia Quinn series was given to her by her favorite Aunt Mini on her fifteenth birthday, and she will continue to treasure the series until she dies.

'I still don't understand, "Why can't Colin see that Peneople is perfect for him? Gah, men are so dense. She thinks while staring at the black walls of Mako's famous volcano.

"How long have you been here, Lori?" Another mermaid asks from the underground entrance of the moon pool as she swims in the mermaid's direction.

Lori's brown eyes stare at the blonde-haired girl with peach skin, blue eyes, and an orange-red tail from the sideline before turning onto her back.

"I don't know, Sof! I was thinking about Polin!" Lori confesses in a dreamy tone.

Sof laughs, and it echoes throughout the volcano's small walls before teasing her best friend by commenting, "You and your ships! When will you read something else besides friends-to-lover romances."

Lori glares at her friend before replaying, "Just because you don't like romance books. Does not mean you should make fun of my love for the Bridgetion Series!"

Sof rolls her sapphire eyes from Lori's statement and decides to change the subject.

"Can you believe the moon ring ceremony is tonight!"

Lori grins at the change of subject as she looks at the top of the dormant volcano.

"It isn't a big deal. We use the moon ring every day for lessons." Lori states in a casual tone.

Sof scoffs from her comment before responding in a sassy tone. "It's not the same! This time, we won't have to rely on Miss. Rita. And we can start taking charge of the pod together!"

Lori explains, "My Aunt Serina says it is difficult to control your gestures while controlling the moon ring for the first year. And if you gesture the motion wrong, you could hurt someone or worse! Destroying them from the inside."

Sof shivered from Lori's comment while she decided to turn her back, and both teenagers talked to each other as they floated about the water.
