A few days after the gala, Alexis found herself in her sleek, modern office, reviewing the latest financial reports. Her assistant, Claire, knocked on the door and entered with a curious expression.

"Miss Carter, there's someone here to see you," Claire announced. "It's Damien Blackwood.

Alexis's heart skipped a beat. "Send him in."

Damien walked in, exuding the same commanding presence he had at the gala. He took a seat across from her, his eyes fixed on hers.

"To what do I owe this visit, Mr. Blackwood?" Alexis asked, maintaining her composed demeanor.

"I have a proposition for you," Damien replied, leaning forward slightly. "One that could be mutually beneficial.

Intrigued, Alexis gestured for him to continue."My company is in the midst of a critical merger, and the board is pressuring me to settle down, to appear more stable and reliable. It would expedite the deal if I were perceived as being in a committed relationship," he explained.

"And from what I've heard, you're facing pressure to appear more personable to potential investors."

Alexis frowned, not liking where this was headed. "Are you suggesting we fake a relationship?"

"Precisely," Damien said smoothly. "Think of it as a business arrangement. We'll both get what we need. Public appearances, a few social events, and when the time is right, we'll end it amicably.

Alexis considered his proposal. It was unorthodox, but it did have its merits. Her company's latest product launch had been met with skepticism, and a more approachable image could help win over hesitant investors.
Besides, keeping Damien at arm's length while navigating this charade could prove to be an interesting challenge.

"Alright, Mr. Blackwood," she said finally. "I'll agree to this arrangement, but we set some ground rules."

"Of course," Damien agreed, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Shall we discuss the details over dinner?"
