It had been three days since Kathleen or anyone else had seen or heard from Elliot. It was Kathleen's idea to keep it from Olivia until he calmed down or got arrested and couldn't hurt anyone else. But today was Bernie's birthday and both squads had been invited to her party.
Kathleen was already at the party when Olivia arrived with a wide smile. She didn't know. And Elliot was still nowhere to be seen.
"Hey Bernie, happy birthday" Liv smiled as she hugged the older woman.
"Olivia, you look beautiful" Bernie smiled as she took Liv's face in her hands.
"If I'm going to get compliments like that I'll dress up for you more often" She teased lightly as Bernie released her face and Liv handed her her gift. Bernie untied the bow and lifted the lid, taking out the scarf that Liv had bought her.
"Oh, thank you. It's beautiful" She smiled as she wound it around her neck.
"Here Liv" Fin handed her a glass of white wine which she took a sip of before they faded in conversation.
Liv managed to talk to everyone in the room before she cornered Kathleen.
"Hey, I'm getting the feeling that you've been avoiding me" Liv teased with a smile.
"Me? No, why would I avoid you?" She laughed but Liv could feel that there's was something wrong that she didn't want to tell her.
"Kathleen, what's going on with you?" Her face changed, going from hiding something to complete guilt.
"I'm so sorry Liv" A chill ran up her spine. She didn't need to know what she was sorry about, she just knew. She knew that Elliot knew. And that utterly terrified her.
"How long has he known?"
"Three days. I'm so sorry Liv, he said that things were progressing so I thought that you had told him-" Liv's eyes locked on something across the room and Kathleen followed her gaze to where Elliot was standing in his suit looking back at Liv.
"I'll talk to him" Liv muttered, not taking her eyes off of Elliot for a second. The pair slowly crossed the room towards one another, meeting in the middle.
"Hey" She started, unsure of where to actually begin.
"I know Liv" He said bluntly.
"Kathleen told you by accident"
"I read about what he did to you" Liv could hear the venom in his voice.
"Wait, so she didn't tell you? She only told you his name and you decided to read about it instead of asking me?" He could hear the anger in her voice.
"What was I supposed to do?"
"Ask me!" Her raised voice made their friends freeze around them "You want to know what William Lewis did to me? Ask" He stayed silent, earning a scoff from Olivia.
"I already know what he did"
"Do you? You have no idea what he did to me" The venom in her voice was unmistakable, she scoffed again "You want to know if he raped me. If he pulled my pants down-"
"Liv, did he?"
"Did he what? Pull down my pants or rape me? Because the answers to those two are very different"
"I know, the scar-"
"The burns. He burned me with your spare key and then mine" She bit "He didn't rape me, he couldn't get it up. I refused to speak to any journalists so they guessed based on what he'd done before. He couldn't rape me" She finally told him but he didn't let out a sigh of relief like she thought he would "But that's not the whole problem is it?" Liv reached out to touch him but Elliot took a step away from her before she could make contact "El, touch me" She ordered but he didn't move "Touch me. Touch me!" He didn't budge "You won't because when you look at me all you see is him" Liv felt her heart beginning to break in her chest "You'll gladly touch me when we're alone-"
"That was different"
"How? Because I told you that I wanted you? Because I kissed you? Or was it because you didn't know the truth then?" Elliot looked ashamed but didn't say anything "You know what? Screw you Elliot" She moved past him, expecting him to reach out and grab her wrist to stop her from leaving but he didn't, she turned back to face him.
"You really didn't even try to stop me from leaving? Things were different now, I was going to tell you everything if you had only asked but I refuse to let you spill your feelings to me when you betray my trust about the worst pain I've endured in my life. I'm tired of waiting for you" She admitted before she finally left.
"You're a damn fool" Fin told him.
"I know"
