BEE

"Why you always got to hit her though?", I heard someone ask as I started to wake up.

"You know why.", I heard Levi respond.

"Yea and he's dead. So what's your excuse now?", the person continued.

"Mommy!", I heard LJ yell as he jumped onto me.

Opening my eyes, I looked down at him and smiled.

We were in a safe house and as soon as I laid down on the couch, I knocked out.

"Bee! Long time no see!", I heard the mystery person say.

Glancing over to him, I rolled my eyes.

It was the same guy who watched Levi beat my ass the time we found out our mothers were missing.

"I don't fucking know you.", I spat.

"Watch your mouth, Bee. This man tries so hard to make me be nicer to you.", Levi spoke without looking over to me.

"Oh. Okay. I don't give a fuck.", I continued.

I was groggy and honestly, I didn't want to be messed with.

"LJ go to your room.", Levi ordered as he stood.

LJ quickly obeyed and disappeared down the hall.

Levi headed towards me but the mystery man stepped in front of him.

"I can't let you do that. Not while I'm here.", he said as he basically became a human shield for me.

"I'm not going to hit her.", Levi chuckled.

"And I'm not taking any chances.", the guy shrugged.

They had a stare down before Levi gave up.

Throwing his hands into the air, he smiled and went back to his seat.

He resumed typing on his laptop.

Mystery guy turned to me and gave a sad smile.

"I'm Kenneth. I like to think of myself as a guardian angel for the less fortunate-", he started.

"Ken, shut the fuck up. I don't think angels torture people in basements.", Levi interrupted with a lot of sarcasm.

What the fuck?

"Levi. Tell me what's going on? What is with all the guns and killing? I'm lost-", I questioned.

I wanted to make sense of everything but as far as I knew, it's always been the mayor, Levi's family and my family.

"How do you think we can afford all the shit we had growing up? How we paid for college?", Levi muttered, not really paying attention.

"Our families worked?", I questioned.

"Our families run a crime business, Bee. Money, sex, drugs. You name it, we do it. People have been trying to take us down. I wasn't expecting it to be people close to us.", Levi answered, mumbling the last part.

"Wait....what?", I asked confused.

"My grandfather was the head....but you killed him so now it's me. Thank you for that by the way.", Levi chuckled again.
