Lorenzo's POV
My little girl was home.
It was the only thought ringing through my head as I made myself a coffee. Earlier this day, I'd received a call from the station telling me they'd found my daughter. That her step father had died leaving me to be able to take her custody.
11 years. 11 years, I'd searched and searched for my little girl and she was finally here. They'd told me she was involved in a car accident a year prior, leaving her paralysed from waist down and she had to use a wheelchair. I'd wanted my daughter to have a happy healthy life, but from the second I'd seen her she'd been quiet, and visibly unhappy. I didn't care though, she was here and I was going to do everything in my power to give her the happiest life.
Once I finished making coffee, I decided to check on Amity. I softly knocked on her door and entered, only to find her sleeping. How did she get on the bed? She should've called me. I shook the thought away, she didn't trust me enough yet, and the social worker told me that Amity's step father would usually not be home so she'd learned how to manage to do some things by herself.
I felt a noose tighten around my heart as I thought of how hard it must've been for her. She wouldn't have to worry about anything now that she was here. There would always be someone here to help her. I reached down, clearing the hair from her face, as I pressed a kiss on her forehead. I walked out of her room, quietly closing the door. I headed towards the kitchen as I heard noises coming from there. The twins must be back.
'What if I was an earthworm?' I heard Silas' voice as I entered the kitchen. I looked over at them, smiling a little when Sebastian annoyedly ran a hand through his hair as his twin kept pestering him with questions.
'What if I was a flatworm?'
'What if I was a centipede?'
'What if I wa-'
'I SWEAR TO GOD SILAS IF YOU DO NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP I WILL PUT WORMS IN YOUR BED', Sebastian finally shouted, making his twin shut up.
'Quiet down', I said as I sat down. 'Don't bother your brother Silas'.
Seb and Silas turned to me, the latter smiling widely. 'Dad, I have a question, would you love us if we were insects?' Before I can even answer the question, I hear Sebastian groan loudly. 'I can't fucking do this again, I'm going to sleep', he said grabbing a snack from the table. Silas turned to me about to speak again, but I have to interrupt him.
'Wait, come back here Seb', I call out. My sons don't know yet about their sister being home, and Sebastian's room is right beside Amity's, he might wake her up. Sebastian walked back into the kitchen with an annoyed look on his face. 'When are Nico and Mase getting home?' I question, and as if on cue both my sons walk in, greeting me and their brothers as they see us.
'Massimo's just parking the car Dad', Nico said as he headed to the fridge, and Mason sat down beside me. Sebastian was still at the entry of the kitchen. 'Why'd you want me to stay back Dad?' Sebastian questioned in an annoyed tone. I give him a look telling him to sit his ass down. He gets the message and sits down beside Mason begrudgingly. Just then Massimo walks in, his coat in one hand, texting someone on his phone. He'd taken over the mafia three years ago and had since proved himself to be wonderfully capable. Not that I'd ever doubted him. I'd groomed him to take over, I expected him to be excellent and he was. I sigh as I get ready to tell them. This is going to be chaotic.
'Now that you're all here', I start as I stand up, getting the attention of all five of my sons as they look over at me, even my eldest son, 'I have something to tell you, but before that, you should sit down.' My sons look over at me curiosity flickering in their eyes as they took a seat around the kitchen island.
'Are you finally shipping Silas off to a hostel?' Mason says with a smirk on his face, as he looks over at his brother.
'What?! No he's not', Silas exclaims looking over at me panicked, 'You're not, right?'
'Mason', I say, the warning clear in my tone as I hold up my hand telling Silas to quiet down.
'What is it, Dad?' Massimo's deep voice says. I sigh as I start speaking, 'I got a call this morning from the police. They found Amity.'
Dead silence looms over the kitchen as I stop speaking. I look around at my sons, all of them looking bewildered. And then all hell breaks loose.
'WHAT?!?!' Silas yells standing up. 'WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US BEFORE?! WHERE IS SHE? YOU TOOK HER IN RIGHT? WE CAN SEE HER? WHERE IS-' Before he can finish Nico pushed his brother back down into his seat plopping a hand over his mouth. 'Let Dad finish talking, dumbass', Nico says as he looks over at me expectantly, as do all his brothers.
'She's sleeping in her room right now, but there's something you all need to know. A year ago, she was involved in a car accident which left her...paralyzed. She uses a wheelchair now, because of that, I need at least one of you to be home at all times with her. There's going to be many changes around here.' I finish.
Before anyone can say anything, Sebastian gets out of his chair throwing it back as he storms out the room, and a second later a door being slammed is heard. I sigh as I run my hand over my face. 'Is she really here?' I hear Massimo say softly, as he looks at me his eyes glassy. I nod at him, and I notice him release a breath as his hands grip the counter beside him, as if he needed to balance himself before he collapsed.
'Oh my god', Nico rasps out as he takes a seat beside Mason. Silas is quiet, something which is rare, and then he lets out a cry. 'She's really back', he says as tears roll down his face. Mason sits beside him, his face blank as if he's still processing what I said. The silence looms over the kitchen before Mason speaks up, 'I have to make dinner, I have to make her something to eat,' he says standing up as he reaches over to the cabinets taking things out. Silas gets up silently crying as he walks towards the hallway, towards his room. I look around the kitchen to find Massimo gone, and Nico still sitting where he was. I sigh as I walk towards Massimo's office, knowing Mason wouldn't calm down until he'd made a whole feast and Nico needed to sit down and process it.
I walk into Massimo's office seeing him sitting there, drinking a glass of whiskey. I sit down at the chair across from his desk reaching forward to get a glass myself. We both sit in silence drinking.
