**Y/n's POV**I stared at my reflection in the dressing room mirror, the bright lights illuminating my nervousness. The makeup artist worked diligently, brushing on the final touches. The room buzzed with energy—stylists adjusting my dress, assistants shuffling around with last-minute details, and my manager reviewing the evening's schedule with an anxious look.
"You look stunning, Y/n," the makeup artist said, stepping back to admire her work. I offered a grateful smile, but inside, a storm of nerves churned. Hosting the Annual Excellence Awards was a huge honour, and I wanted everything to be perfect.
"Three minutes until showtime!" a voice called from the hallway.
I took a deep breath and stood up, smoothing down my dress. It was a deep emerald green, floor-length, hugging my curves perfectly, with a subtle shimmer that caught the light beautifully. My stylist made one last adjustment to the hem before stepping back, her expression a mix of approval and pride.
"You're ready," she said, giving me an encouraging nod.
As I walked towards the stage, my heart raced with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. The assistant director met me at the edge of the curtain, headset in place.
"Five seconds, Y/n," he whispered. "Break a leg."

**None POV**
The audience was a sea of anticipation as Y/n stepped onto the stage, her smile radiant under the bright lights. She took a moment to let the applause die down before speaking.
"Good evening, everyone," she began, her voice steady and warm. "It's an absolute honour to be here tonight, celebrating the incredible achievements in sports and entertainment. We have some amazing talent in this room, and I can't wait to get started."
The crowd responded with enthusiastic applause, and Y/n felt a surge of confidence.
"Before we dive into the awards, I have to share a quick story," she said, her eyes twinkling. "Last year, at an event much like this, I had a little... mishap. I was so nervous, that I tripped over my own dress and nearly took down the entire set with me. But tonight, I'm wearing slightly shorter heels, so fingers crossed!"
Laughter rippled through the audience, easing the tension in the room. Y/n grinned, pleased with the reaction.
"And now, onto our first award of the evening—the Ballon d'Or. This prestigious honour goes to an athlete who has shown exceptional skill and sportsmanship over the past year."
She opened the envelope with a flourish. "And the winner is... Alexia Putellas!"
Applause thundered as Alexia made her way to the stage, her joy evident. Y/n handed her the trophy, exchanging a few words of congratulations before Alexia began her acceptance speech.

**Y/n's POV**
As Alexia spoke, I scanned the audience, my eyes landing on Leah Williamson. The sight of her sent a jolt of memories flooding back, uninvited yet vivid.

**Flashback: One Year Ago**
The charity gala was in full swing, a lavish affair with twinkling lights and the soft hum of classical music. It was one of those nights where celebrities and athletes mingled, all for a good cause. I was there to lend star power, to smile for the cameras, and to help raise money for a children's hospital.
When I was introduced to Leah Williamson, I had expected a polite handshake, maybe a few words about our shared cause. Instead, I was met with a cold stare that pierced right through me. "Great, I'm stuck with the diva," she muttered under her breath, her eyes scanning the room like she was already bored.
"Excuse me?" I shot back, not bothering to hide my irritation. Who did she think she was?
"You heard me," she said, crossing her arms defiantly. "Just stay out of my way, and we'll get through this."
Her dismissive attitude grated on my nerves. I took a step closer, ready to retaliate. "I don't know what your problem is, but I'm here to help raise money, not to deal with your attitude. It's for the kids, remember?"
"Funny," Leah retorted, raising an eyebrow, "I thought you were here for the photo ops. You're an actress, right?"
From that moment, the evening became a battle of wills. Throughout the night, our interactions were filled with tension. During a silent auction, I tried to engage with the bidders, but Leah stood to the side, rolling her eyes every time I cracked a joke.
"Can you stop playing the charming actress for one minute?" she hissed under her breath as one potential donor chuckled at my antics. "People are here to donate, not to be entertained by you."
"And can you stop acting like you're above all this?" I snapped back, anger bubbling beneath the surface. "Your holier-than-thou attitude isn't helping anyone."
By the time we were supposed to give our joint speech, the atmosphere was thick with hostility. As I stood at the podium, I could feel her glaring at me from the side, her jaw set tight. I cleared my throat, forcing myself to focus on the audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen," I began, trying to project warmth despite the tension, "we're here tonight to support an incredible cause. Your generosity will make a huge difference in the lives of these children."
Leah stepped up beside me, her expression stony. "Yes, thank you for your contributions. Every bit helps, and together, we can make a real impact." Her voice was steady, but her eyes were filled with disdain.
The audience clapped politely, completely unaware of the undercurrent of animosity swirling between us. As we left the stage, I couldn't resist one last jab. "Nice job up there," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"You too," she replied, matching my tone. "For someone who loves the spotlight, you didn't do too badly."

**None POV**
Y/n snapped back to the present as Alexia finished her speech and returned to her seat. Pushing the memories aside, she focused on the next award.
"Now, it's time for the Player of the Year award," she announced, projecting her voice to engage the audience. "This category is packed with incredible talent. The nominees are Sam Kerr, Vivianne Miedema, Wendie Renard, and Leah Williamson."
The audience buzzed with anticipation as Y/n opened the envelope. "And the award goes to... Leah Williamson!"
Leah stood, making her way to the stage with a confident stride. Y/n handed her the trophy, their fingers brushing briefly. A spark of electricity passed between them, the tension palpable.
"Congratulations, Leah," Y/n said, forcing a polite smile.
"Thank you, Y/n," Leah replied, her tone neutral but her eyes challenging.

**Y/n's POV**
As Leah walked away, I couldn't help but feel the unresolved tension between us. Our past encounters had left a mark, and despite my best efforts, I couldn't shake the feeling that our story was far from over. There was something about the way she challenged me that both infuriated and intrigued me. Little did I know, our complicated relationship was only just beginning.
