Y/N

The world was a blur of white as I slowly drifted back into consciousness. My body felt heavy, and there was a dull, throbbing pain in my neck. I blinked, trying to focus on my surroundings. As my vision cleared, I realized I was in a familiar white room. The scent of antiseptic filled the air, and the soft hum of medical equipment provided a constant background noise.

I was in the Armed Detective Agency's infirmary

Turning my head slightly, I saw Kunikida sitting beside my bed. His glasses were perched on top of his head, and he was engrossed in his notebook, scribbling away with his usual intensity. As if sensing my movement, he looked up and our eyes met.

"You're finally awake" Kunikida said, his voice a mixture of relief and sternness. He closed his notebook and set it aside, giving me his full attention.

I tried to speak, but my throat felt dry and sore. Kunikida seemed to understand and handed me a glass of water from the bedside table. I took a small sip, feeling the cool liquid soothe my parched throat.

"How long was I out?" I managed to ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Almost two days," Kunikida replied, his expression softening.

"You gave us all quite a scare."

I nodded, memories of the confrontation with Takashi Mori flooding back. The terror, the pain, and the feeling of helplessness all came rushing in. I instinctively reached for my neck, feeling the bandages that were wrapped around it.

"We managed to save you just in time," Kunikida continued, his voice steady and reassuring.

 "You're lucky to be alive."

"What about Takashi?" I asked, my mind racing with concern for the case and the safety of others.

"He's in custody," Kunikida replied.

"Ranpo is interrogating him as we speak. We need to get to the bottom of this, and Ranpo is the best person for the job."

I nodded again, relief washing over me. Knowing that Ranpo was handling the interrogation gave me some comfort. If anyone could extract the truth from Takashi, it was him.

Kunikida's expression turned serious as he leaned closer. "You need to rest and recover, Y/N. We've been through a lot, and we can't afford to lose you. You're a vital part of this team."

I appreciated his concern, but I couldn't shake the feeling of urgency. There was still so much to do, so many questions left unanswered.

"I understand, Kunikida. But as soon as I'm able, I also want to know something from him myself. Especially, that he is also the same suspect in dad's previously solved cases."

He sighed, pushing his glasses back onto his nose. "I know. And you will. But right now, your health is the priority. The team can handle things while you recover."

I reluctantly agreed, knowing he was right. My body needed time to heal, and pushing myself too soon could be dangerous. As I settled back into the pillows, Kunikida gave me a reassuring smile.
