The halls had been emptied out a while ago now, leaving only Jihyo standing silently at her locker.

A silent tear rolled down her cheek and splattered down onto her now hollow feeling skin. Who knew that a single phone call could cause so much pain for someone like Jihyo. Her phone lay discarded on the tiled floors of her middle school, making almost inaudible dinging sounds, probably relatives offering their condolences.

SIX MONTHS LATER (+perspec change whoo)

"Quick! She's coming!" exclaimed one of my classmates. Two boys quickly but quietly shut the doors and switched off the lights, plunging us into darkness. A few quiet giggles could be heard but other than that we were dead silent, as if we weren't even there. We crouched anxiously, and a few were whispering excitedly. A muffled voice could be heard from outside the door.

"Hello? Is anyone there? Why's it so dark?" she said, knocking impatiently on the door. "Where's my keys?" the woman outside struggled for a minute, before a jangling sound filled out ears. A clicking sound comes from the door and the woman walked cautiously into the dark classroom, the hallway light illuminating the desks.

"H-hello? I-i-is anyone there?" she called out anxiously. She stepped a little further, her high heels clipping the tiled floor with every step. She inched her hand shakily towards the light switch, and flicked on the lights. The bright light revealed my class crouching behind upturned desks, not visible to the unsuspecting teacher.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MS KIM!" a roar of cheers followed after, and the teacher put her hand to her mouth, tears welling up in her eyes. The class had covered our classroom in streamers, and a large banner hung from the ceiling, with 'Happy Birthday' written in big, playful, colourful letters. A few other desks were pushed together to host a few snacks and various soft drinks. A gorgeous pink and white birthday cake decorated with strawberries sat in the middle of the long table.

Ms Kim cried some more before she started playing music on her speaker, and everyone got up to dance.

Everyone except me.

"Fuck that" I thought, feeling annoyed. I sat quietly in the corner, ignoring everyone else as I played with the bracelet around my wrist. It was a pretty little thing, adorned with miniature silver charms - mostly flowers and stars. In the middle sat a heart shaped lock. With no key. That meant it was un-openable. This was something I'd struggling with for years.

The rest of the class partied loudly in the background. I felt lonely, but I wasn't looking to be apart of all that noise. I wasn't looking for friends. I was used to this kind of loneliness, and it never really bothered me like it should.

Ever since my dad died I'd never been the same. Friends I'd known for years meant nothing to me, and popularity was far from my concern.

Except one boy. The boy that even now I don't remember the name of. The one who gave me the very bracelet that I fiddled with, 10 years ago.
