L: Adrien?
A: ....yeah..?
L: What don't you regret?
.......
Second day of school... this will be a long year. I left early yesterday, I was just too embarrassed and exhausted. Apparently I have half of my classes with Luka, including PE. And the seating charts are total WACK! Lila and I sit in the very front along with Sabrina and Chloe, just like every year ever. Marinette and Alya sit behind me while Kim and Max sit in the back, calculating the distance from their seats to the trash cans. (They're throwing crumbled up papers when the teacher's not looking.) Mylene and Ivan are seated behind rose and Juleka, they're talking about double dates to Andre's. Lila and Marinette are bickering, but I don't know what they're saying. I'm too distracted.
.......
Not by the class (science is boring), but by him. Luka takes a seat in the back with Nino, who's too busy listening to music. They would totally be best friends, If they both learned to take off those headphones. Luka nods his head to an inaudible beat. He closes his eyes and smiles. Then he looks straight at me. I feel my heart stop. Everything goes silent. We stare at each other. I see him flinch slightly, like if there was a little shock wave that was created by the tension. Then he goes back to smiling and he points to Marinette.
.......
I frown, I try to open my mouth to say something- "Adrien Agreste!" I snap into my chair. "Yes Ms. Mendeleiev." I say, like an army command. "The board is up here, isn't it?" "Yes Ms. Mende-" "So you shouldn't be looking over there should you?" I start to sweat as I hear people snicker. "It was my fault Ms. Mendeleiev." Luka says. I look back, shocked, why would he say that? It obviously isn't true! "Is it now Mr.. uhh.." "Luka Couffaine." He says with a straight face. She scoffs. "If that's the case then, Luka, go to the principals office. NOW." People start to whisper and giggle. He walks down the steps and into the hallway, look back at me. Is he signaling for me to talk to Marinette? Because it WONT be happening. And how did we end up being "friends"?
.......
The day was long and tiring. Endless hours of Lila twirling her hair and clinging to my arm. I managed to escape during PE and I lost her for the rest of the day, but I also lost Luka. He stayed at the principals office for the whole day. Probably to get a better understanding of his schedule and what not. But I don't know where he went after that, I heard someone say he was sitting out during PE, obviously because he doesn't have a uniform yet. But where woul- "Hey adriennn~" Alya says teasingly.
.......
This always happens every now and then. Alya comes up to me all weirdly while marinette clings to her leg like an awkward child. "Oh. Hey Alya! What's up?" "Nothing yet, but Marinette here has something to tell youuuu!" "Hmm?" I look behind Alya and Marinette shyly waves, before trying to pull back Alya. They bicker and fight before Alya pushes Marinette forwards, which causes her to face plant. I help her up. "So?" She brushes off the dust from her clothes. "Sooooooooo....." she stares at me blankly.
.......
We stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before Nino stepped in and offered to take all of us to a skating rink. Ice skating. Alya squeals and texts all of her friends, and Marinette scurries away. We walk for a while before turning a corner and entering the rink. I see a few people there, a mother and her daughter. Two people who are probably dating skating side to side. And of course, Mylene, Rose and Juleka. Next to Juleka is, him.
.......
Well, it isn't weird that he's here too, I mean, they're twins. But this was supposed to be a nice little break away from .. Him! Our eyes meet again, and this time, his eyes widen. It was only for a split second, before he laid his eyes on Marinette. His eyes relaxed and he skated towards her. She giggled for a few seconds before Alya pulled her away. Nino followed them, trying to trip Alya and instead, tripping himself. Luka skates in circles for a few seconds before coming up to me. "Well?"
.......
"Well what?" I ask. "Are you going to skate?" I sigh in relief. He looks at me weirdly. "Something on your mind? You know I'll always be here to listen." No.. I didn't know that. "No, it's really nothing." "Is it about Marinette?" I tense up. "Because if it is, I can help-" "it's not about Marinette!" I yell out quietly, making sure no one else hears. He looks at me, befuddled. "It's not?" "No!" I say, looking at his face. I keep myself from yelling out "I love you!", and instead I say; "I like.. s-someone else." He looks around, deep in thought. He pulls my hand and drags me off the rink. "Let me help you confess!" He says, reaching for his bags.
.......
Before I could respond, he rushes back into the rink to tell his sister he's leaving. Marinette rushes out of the rink and almost trips on everything. I catch her before she falls, she falls anyways. I help her up and I giggle a little. She's as red as a tomato. "Where- uhm.. where are you going?" She says, looking to her feet. "Luka is going to help with something." "Will you be gone for long? I-I mean you don't need to come back i-its your choice but you know it would be fun if you came back, not that everyone else isn't fun it's just-" she babbles for a few seconds. "I don't know if I'll be coming back, my father wants me home for dinner." "Oh, really?" "Yeah." "But-"
.......
Marinette talks a little more, nervously messing up her words with other words and making wacky hand motions. It's starting to get just a little annoying. She's always been like this around me, I just never know why. I don't care what she has to say about my dad. She should know that he will never change. I try so hard not to yell out "I don't care" that it hurts- "what..?" She says. I freeze. Did I say that out loud? "Oh, no sorry I have an earpiece in and-" she stands there, pale. "I was.. I was.." I can't lie to her. She's to sweet for that.
.......
"I was talking to my dad, he calls every hour and.. he always brags about everything he does. Sorry, I should have told you he called." Im so pathetic. I see her relax her shoulders and she sighs. "It's alright, I've met your father." She laughs, I laugh too, even though it's not funny. She goes back into the rink and Luka joins me in packing our bags. "What was that?" He says teasingly. "What was what?" I say, confused. He rolls his eyes and smiles before picking up his bag. "Let's go." "No seriously what was what?" He laughs. I don't get it.
