[Elijan Montague's Point of View]
I stormed into my office with anger fueling my every step. Khan was sitting at her desk. Her expression calm and collected which irritates me more. How could she breathe so fine knowing that she's ruining someone?
"This is your doing, isn't it?" I demanded, my voice rising. "You pretended to help me get here last night just to gain side with Dr. Chua. You really want to ruin me, don't you?"
She stopped looking at her computer and looked at me with her calm expression as she raised an eyebrow then a smirk played on her lips. "You're quite the detective, aren't you?"
My face flushed with anger. "Who are you really? Why are you doing this to me?"
She leaned back in her chair, her expression turning serious. "You're delusional," she said calmly. "My career is thriving. I don't need to sabotage yours. This is all your doing. You're the one who couldn't simply finish a heart transplant and now you're blaming the consequences on me?"
I was speechless. She was blaming me for something I didn't intend to do. Wow, she just hit a traumatic spot inside of me.
"Stay out of my paper," I growled, my voice low.
She laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "As if I'd let that happen. It was Dr. Chua's idea, not mine. And you're the one who's falling apart, not me."
"You are obviously manipulating him," I concluded, I was sure of it.
She stood up and walked towards me, her eyes never leaving mine. She reached out and grabbed my tie, pulling me closer. Her breath was warm against my face, and I could feel the intensity of her gaze.
"You're cute when you're angry, like a child throwing tantrums" she whispered, her voice low and seductive. "Protecting your little spotlight, huh?"
I was frozen, unable to move or speak. Her proximity was disorienting, and her words were a mixture of insult and provocation.
She let go of my tie, a smirk playing on her lips. "Don't worry, I'll let you keep your precious paper. For now."
With that, she turned and walked back to her desk, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I had to focus. I couldn't let her get to me. I finished my shift and headed out to my car.
AS I drove out of the hospital parking lot, I spotted her getting in her car. A wave of determination washed over me. I would follow her and find out what she was up to.
I kept a safe distance, my eyes glued to her car. The city lights blurred as we drove through the night. I was determined to uncover her secrets, I just hoped she didn't notice me.
Her car came to a stop in front of a dark alley. She got out and disappeared into the shadows. I parked my car a few blocks away and cautiously approached the alley.
Before I could take a step, I felt a sharp pain in my back. I was thrown against the cold, hard concrete wall, my body pinned by a force I couldn't resist.
I turned to face my attacker, my heart pounding in my chest. The dim street light lit up her face. It was her. The same woman who had been tormenting me.
"Why are you following me?" she demanded, her voice low and menacing.
I struggled to find the right words. "I... I wanted to apologize about the paper," I lied, of course.
She scoffed, her eyes filled with contempt. "A stalker, that's what you are."
I was speechless.
She finally released me, her grip loosening as her frustration grew. It was clear she didn't believe my lame excuse.
