Chapter 3

*Two hours, thirty-one minutes, eleven seconds*

I've been waiting at this theater since 7:45 p.m. Here it is 8:00 and nobody is here. Oh, wait, here's Luke.

"Hey!" I yell. He is still getting out of the car.
"Hey, Jess here yet?"
"No, but go figure though. She is always late." I say with a smile. Why is he dressed so nice? Dark jeans, a solid, dark red shirt, which really complements his eyes, and some new converse. Should I ask? Here goes. "Why are you so dressed up?"
"It's your birthday!" That smile is electric.
"Yeah well I look like crap and here you are..."
"You look beautiful!" He said, now he looks like he regrets saying it.
"Thanks." Don't you dare blush! "There's Jess!"
"Hey yall, sorry I'm late."
"It's fine, we're used to it." Luke said back.

Great. Now I'm laughing.

"So what movie are we seeing?" I have to say something to stop laughing.
"Prisoners!" Like said.

I personally don't want to see that, but they are excited about it so I might as well.

"Snacks?" Like asks.
"I only brought money for a ticket, so no." I already know what's gonna happen.
"No worries, I got it!" Yep. "What do you want?"
"You don't have to do that." You really don't.
"No, but I want to. Consider it part of your birthday present." He said, ugh that smile!
"Fine, I'll have a small coke and popcorn."

He came back with larges. Wow.

"What did you mean by part of my present?" I didn't want to ask, but I want to know.
"You'll see tomorrow." Okay stop smiling Luke before my cheeks explode with blush.

*Fifteen minutes, twenty-seven seconds*

"That movie was so cool!" Jessica shouted.
"Calm down." I say, giggling at her enthusiasm.
"Oh come on! You know it was good!" She said. Now she red the look on my face. "You didn't like it, did you?"
"What? Qhispikay, really? You didn't like it?" Luke said, I notice a heartbroken look on his face.
"I mean, it was good. But stories like that scare me a little." At least I'm being honest.
"Why didn't you say something? We could have seen something else you know." Luke is aggravated, I can tell.
"Because you guys were so excited about it! I wanted yall to have fun!" Again, I'm being honest. Why is this such a big deal?
"But it's your birthday!" Apparently that's why. "You should have had fun!" Okay, Luke, I get it.
"Sorry." I mean, I think I am.
"Okay you guys my mom's here. See ya!" Jessica yelled. She is really loud.
"Bye!" Luke is loud to. "Oh, my mom is here to. Need a ride?"
"No, my mom is coming." I think.
"Okay. See ya Sunday!" And he's gone.

*five minutes, seventeen seconds*

Where is my mother? I should call...and clean out my purse...where is that phone?! Here it is. And the passcode is...LoveDad...I should change that. Contacts, and all the way down to M. Mom; call.

"Hello?" Where are you?!
"Hey, are you coming? It's about to rain." Please say yes.
"Sorry, your grandmother has fallen sick. We are at the doctors. You're going to have to walk home." Great.
"Okay. I'll see ya later. Bye." Wow. She hung up before I said bye.

I guess I better start walking. Or running, that thunder is getting close.

*one minute, forty-five seconds*

Man I'm out of breath. I guess I can stop running now, I'm already soaked anyway.an my endurance is crappy. I've only been running for literally one minute and m ready shot. Oh wait, what's this? A car!

"Hey! You need a ride?" Oh it's my Health teacher Mr. Stevens! And a friend his, I guess.
"Are you sure? I don't wanna cause you trouble..." But yes please.
"And I don't wanna see you with pneumonia! Come on!" Yay!
"Okay." I walk to the door.
"Wait, I'll get that!" His friend is getting out of the car to help me? How nice!
