Nandini's Help

Nandini's POV :

The conversation inside the hut continued, drawing my attention. "Yuvraj, I've decided we should go as a newlywed couple in disguise," the voice said. Disguise? My curiosity deepened. I leaned in closer to catch more of their exchange.

"Okay, but you'll be the woman, understood? I can't do that," came Prince Indrajit's response, tinged with reluctance.

The other person sighed in resignation. "Alright, Prince."Suddenly, their footsteps approached, and I quickly moved away, pretending to hang clothes on a nearby line to avoid suspicion.

As I busied myself with the fabric, a voice called out, "Nandini?"

I turned my head slowly, my heart racing. To my astonishment, I saw Uday ji standing there, his expression a mix of surprise and recognition.

"Uday ji?" I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.

The prince's gaze shifted between Uday and me, a look of confusion clouding his eyes. "You know her?" he asked, directing his question at Uday.

Uday nodded, his face lighting up with recognition. "We're from the same village-Rajghar," he explained.

The prince's expression softened, and he gave a slight nod. "Okay."

"It's nice to see you here," Uday said with a warm smile. I returned the smile, feeling a flicker of relief and comfort.

Suddenly, Uday's face brightened with realization. "Oh, yes!" he exclaimed. "Wait here for a moment." Without waiting for a response, he motioned for the prince to follow him to the other side of the hut.

Author's POV

"Prince, you know I don't really look like a woman in a woman's disguise," Uday whispered urgently to Indrajit.

The prince responded with a whisper of his own, "That's true, but we don't have any other options."

Uday's eyes conveyed his desperation. "Why don't we get a real woman to do the job? It would be more convincing."

The prince raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

Uday's gaze shifted towards Nandini. "Her,"

The prince's eyes widened in disbelief. "Her? Are you mad? It's a risky task."

Uday's tone was reassuring. "Oh, Prince, you don't know her like I do. I've known her since childhood. Her father worked in our household. She's a brave girl-she can handle it."

Reluctantly, the prince conceded to Uday's suggestion. It was clear that Uday's attempt at a woman's disguise was not convincing enough, and the risk of being discovered was too great.

"Alright," the prince said with a sigh, his voice a mixture of resignation and acceptance. "If you believe she can handle it, then we'll go with Nandini's help."

Nandini's POV

When Uday and the prince returned from their secret discussion, Uday addressed me with a serious tone. "Nandini, we need your help."

I responded with readiness, "Ji, bataye(Please tell)."

Uday hesitated for a moment, clearly contemplating how to explain. Finally, he relayed the details of the plan.

"Are you going too?" I asked, my gaze shifting to Uday.

He nodded. "Yes."

"Then don't you need a fake wife too?" I pointed out, my brow furrowing in concern.

Uday looked at me, realization dawning on his face. "You're right. We'll need to figure that out as well."

"I have a friend who can help," I offered.

"Really?" Uday's eyes lit up, and the prince's expression brightened as well.

I nodded in affirmation. "Yes, she's perfect for the role."

"Thanks," Uday said with genuine relief. "That makes things much easier."

"But what will I get if the plan succeeds?" I asked, turning my gaze to the prince.The prince looked at me, a smile playing on his lips. "How does double salary sound to you?"

I considered the offer for a moment before nodding in agreement. "That sounds fair."

Uday grinned, clearly pleased with the arrangement. "Excellent. With your help, I'm sure this will work out."

The prince added, "We're counting on you, Nandini. Your role is crucial."

I nodded firmly, feeling a renewed sense of determination. "I won't let you down", I said locking eyes with him.
