I awaken at night to pray. looking around me I noticed the remaining water from yesterday in the bucket I perform ablution with it and prayed, I normally wake up much earlier to perfom shafi and wtr but I was exhausted, after praying I lay on my bed as sleep welcomed me in its warm embrace. morning came and I awaken to the chirping of birds the sunlight glaring on my skin from the partially closed curtains. i wanted to continue laying on bed forgetting my struggles but I knew I had to face them so I stood up say my prayer, arranged my bed and draw the curtains. i was especially nervous to face the stranger from yesterday but I knew I had to for one I didn't have extra bathing water and two courtesy , for staying in someone else's home having the basic etiquette to greet is necessary.so I came out of the room through the narrow corridor to the parlor, I saw him sitting on a comfy wooden couch lined with soft white cotton, my eyes then taking in the entire parlor it was spacious and comfy with exquisite decorations and paintings screaming nobility, as I was engrossed in checking out his parlor, a voice broke me out of my trance: miss salamualaikum, I replied waalaikumussalam he then said how are you I hope u slept well to which I gave a positive answer do you mind me telling your name said he fannat I replied oh wonderful name he said and yours I asked faisal he replied I said oh! because I didn't know how to continue this conversation I think he noticed my embarrassment for he said let me cook and then we will eat we have much to talk about miss fannnat and I was standing their looking at him my mind stuck on his first sentence "let me cook" all that was echoing in my mind shellshocked I was forgeting to ask about my bathing water.
After he finished talking he went to the kitchen he squatted near the stove and started making fire I came back to my senses and hurriedly followed after him I squatted next to him and reach out to take the firewood saying this is the ladies work let me cook am sorry to trouble you he clutched the firewood saying no trouble and who told you it's the ladies work it is the duty of a man to pamper the lady and do all the rough work so as to make his lady comfortable and then he muttered something under his breath to which I did not hear clearly I asked what did you say he said nothing and hurriedly changed the topic you can go to the parlour I will make some sandwiches and we will have it with tea, the smoke will disturb you young lady, I stood up went to the side and watched him make the sandwiches boy! he is handsome, just my ideal type I was staring so hard that he said if you stare to much I will not be able to concentrate ,I was so embarrassed I was flustered I... I .. will go to the parlor I flee but not before hearing his low chuckle from the kitchen I was mentally scolding myself fannat have some self-control and shame what will he think of me oh my god he will not think that am one of those shameless women who cant behave properly and have no sense of shame ya Allah, I took my mind off the matter convincing myself that he is no one of consequence to me and we will probably not met after I set off for my uncle and he dosent seem like the type of guy who gossips about ladies with his friends but you never know, salamualaikum a voice called from outside followed by a knock, bringing me out of my reverie.
