This isn't the start of the story but instead a guide to help you better understand how the situation came to be and works.

-You may skip this but if you want to know of the abilities dipper is able to use, i recommend reading it.-

Bil Cipher is a known dream demon who Dipper was unlucky enough to get involved with, there was a time where he was naive enough to allow Bill to posses his body. Having a human vessel was very amusing to the demon and he didn't want to lose it, and so he made a deal with the boy.

In exchange for possession of his body Bill would allow the boy to coexist in it with him and allow the use of his powers. Dipper knew that he shouldn't agree to the terms but it was looking like there was no other options for him. It was either accept and allow the demon to roam the human world disguised as one or live as a sock puppet for the rest of his days. Bill could see the hesitation and was desperate for dipper's body, so he offered providing protection of his vessel when needed. Dipper took this in a different way and thought of it as Bill protecting him and the people he loved, he had wrongfully put enough trust into the demons hands.

And so, a deal was made.

There is a certain amount of damage and energy the human body can normally absorb but having a demon living inside of you increases those limits, but doesn't get rid of it completely.

Bill is able to use four different abilities in his vessel but to do so he has to be careful and endure consequences and risks if he uses them.
When using each ability a certain amount of stamina is needed and each have limits for how long and much you can use it. Going over these limits results in weakening and the loss of a clear mindset, as well as physical damage.

Dipper is able to take control of his own body even while Bill's possession is in control if he uses enough strength to or knocks him off balance. He is also able to use the abilities, Bill has allowed this so that if danger comes his vessel can protect itself.

Bill wants to use Dipper's body as a vessel since he is a direct family member of Stanford Pines which is an advantage to him and his future plans.
