"Dipper?"

"Hey Mabel! Good morning...ahah" he replied awkwardly. There was a sort of awkward silence for a moment.

"So! What do we have planned for today?" i tried to quickly switch the subject which usually works for a while..occasionally..not really. She just looked at me, I mean it's not like I said anything wrong or mildly inappropriate or worrying!

"Right, uh, today we were gonna advertise for the new bakery part of the Mystery shack!" she started out with a confused expression but by the end of her sentence she was smiling, almost as if the whole Bill Cipher voice in her brother's head just flew over hers. This eased the anxiety inside of him. It wasn't out of the ordinary for her brother to do things like this, but sometimes Mabel gets worried about him and whatever's going on inside his brain.

"Right! I should go get ready, I'll be down in a few." I totally forgot about the whole bakery thing, I'm surprised Grunkle Stan even allowed it. Actually not that surprised. It's just another way of making money for him. Anyways, I smell like shit, I should probably shower before I go out with everyone.

"Finally! We've been waiting for so long bro-bro!" Mabel yelled as soon as I came downstairs. I didn't take that long, I just care about my hygiene..yeah.

"Well now that everyone's here, let's start advertising!" Soos said ecstatically, he was really looking forward to seeing a bakery in the Mystery Shack. And so was Wendy. This was nice, being able to see everyone happy and finding common grounds.

"Well then, we should probably go before it's the afternoon. I have some things I want to do." I said so that we can get moving before the opportunity is over.

"Yeah I'm going out with my friends later so we should probably start moving." Wendy agreed. And with that we made our way out of the Mystery Shack and through the forest, hanging up signs and posters while talking and rehearsing what we would say when we get to the main town. I like going out with my friends and Mabel, doing summer stuff and having fun instead of being in the Mystery Shack and going through some mystical crisis. It made me happy, made me wish it could be this way forever. It brought a smile to my face, it way not be the prettiest but it was genuine.

Mabel looked at her twin brother, Dipper, as the rest of the group continued to talk. He was looking away and seemed that he wasn't fully here. Yet, he was smiling and giggling. It was a genuine smile.. Things like this always made her heart melt away, and with everything happening back at home, it was so nice to see him genuinely happy. It almost made her want to cry, not sad tears, but joyful tears.

And before we knew it we were at the main town, people walking by rushing or just going for a calming walk. Now they just need to find places to start advertising and then take on the streets. As they searched we searched, we placed posters on poles and walls. This was okay, but I'm sure I could've spent my time more productively. Not that this isn't productive! I just meant I could have been practicing on my-

"Hey, bro-bro?" Mabel questioned as we entered the café, we took this as a lunch break as well as a chance to talk to people about the bakery.

"Yeah?" I answered while we both sat down at the counter, waiting for Lazy Susan to take our orders.

"So what were you making last night, you were really loud you know! It was hard to sleep, plus you kept ignoring me when I told you to sleep." She asked, waving her hand around, while resting her head on her other hand.

"Reading." I quickly said and went back to looking through the menu. I must've been really caught up, I didn't even hear her asking me to sleep. Was I really being that loud while reading? Maybe it was the pen clucking? But it wasn't a problem before. Now that I really think about it, Mabel was asleep before I began re-reading and dissecting the journal. And she stayed asleep to the end.

"Oh? Weird." was all she said in response which made me even more suspicious of the situation.

"What did you mean? I was reading the journal last night and you were asleep the whole time." I stated.

"Yeah, but then I woke up because you in the closet making a whole bunch of noise." she replied, this time she looked up from picking at her nails. Looking up she saw the look on my face and suddenly it wasn't such a casual conversation anymore.

The twins looked at each other, one confused and the other making an incomprehensible expression. Before any of them could ask any further questions about the suspicious behavior from Dipper last night, Wendy and Soos joined them and Lazy Susan came up to the four to take their orders. As she apologized for taking a bit of time to get to them, the twins just looked at each other. One had the impression that the other was hiding something from her, and the other had the impression that the other was starting to suspect something that he was trying to keep secret from everyone.
