After their hilarious (and ultimately unsuccessful) attempt to tickle the Cosmic Gummy Worm, General Marcus led them through a hidden passage in the library, revealing a rickety cottage nestled amongst gnarled trees.

A hunched figure with a flamboyant hat and mismatched socks greeted them at the door

"Ah, General Marcus," the figure rasped, her voice like dry leaves rustling. "You brought... company?"
"Indeed, Mildred," boomed Marcus. "These are the ones who claim a sparkly comet zapped them here."
Mildred, the witch, peered at the friends with one cloudy eye. "Hmm, sparkly comets and interdimensional travel... sounds like a Tuesday afternoon to me."
The friends exchanged nervous glances. Was this woman for real?

Mildred chuckled, a sound like bubbling cauldrons. "Well, young man, you're in more familiar territory than you think. This isn't some alternate dimension, but..." she paused dramatically, "your past life!"

"Nonsense, dear. You were all formidable warriors, protectors of this very realm. And you," she pointed at Daniel, who was still trying to process the whole past life bombshell, "you were the crown prince, a bit of a goofball but with a kind heart."
Daniel choked on his spit. "A crown prince? Me? I'm more of a dentist-by-day, amateur-magician-by-night kind of guy."
Mildred cackled. "Oh, the irony! Your magical talent in this life manifests as terrible dental puns, but in your past life, you were quite the spellcaster, though slightly clumsy. Remember the time you accidentally turned your entire battalion pink?"
Daniel's cheeks flushed. "Okay, maybe there's some truth to this. But what about the comet?"
"Ah, yes, the Comet of Consequences," Mildred said, her voice grave.
