Jermes Rodriguez, 33, has been linked with a return to Spain.
Spanish media outlet Marca reported on March 31 (KST) that "Spanish club Rayo Vallecano is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The club's president, Martin Presa, wants to celebrate the occasion by signing Hamed, as he did with Radamel Falcao in the past.
Rayo Vallecano is based in Madrid, Spain. It's the same club that Hames used to play for. However, the club was never part of Madrid and is now part of the Puente de Vallecas neighborhood.
The club was founded in May 1924. It's 100 years old this year. In 2021, the club signed Radamel Falcao, the best striker in the world. This time, they"re targeting fellow Colombian Jamez.
Jámez is a Colombian attacking midfielder born in 1991. He really made a name for himself at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. At the tender age of 22, he was given the number 10 shirt for the national team. He scored in the first game of the group stage against Greece in a 3-0 win. He also scored against Côte d'Ivoire in the second round, securing a 2-1 win, and was a dominant presence in the final game against Japan, scoring a goal and providing two assists after coming on as a late substitute.
He then scored twice against Uruguay in the Round of 16 to secure a 2-0 victory and the team's first-ever quarterfinal appearance. Despite being eliminated by Brazil in the quarterfinals, he became the tournament's top scorer with six goals in five games. It had been 28 years since England's Gary Lineker (six goals) had been the top scorer from a team eliminated in the quarterfinals in 1986.
In July 2014, he moved to Real Madrid in Spain. By 2020, he had made 125 appearances in four seasons (excluding a 2017-19 loan spell at Bayern Munich), scoring 37 goals and providing 43 assists in 125 games. He also won many trophies, including La Liga (twice), the UEFA Champions League (UCL), the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup (twice).
He went on to play for Everton, Al Rayyan, and, since 2023, São Paulo FC, where he proved himself again. He led Colombia to a runner-up finish at the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa America, where he was named the tournament's Best Player and was named Player of the Match four times. This was the most in the tournament.
