INTOXICATEDGetting off the bus, A'Zanae was immediately brought into a hug by her family. The sounds of her mom crying echoed in and out of her ears.
"Baby are you okay?"
"Are you in pain?"
"Look what they did to my baby!" Reneé cried as she lifted up her youngest daughters shirt only to find a purple and black bruise starting at her mid back flowing up to her shoulder blades.
Getting sick of being observed, A'Zanae pulled her shirt back down and walked away to her team that was now in a huddle.
"Just give her some space mom, you know how she gets." Samaje rubbed her moms back seeing as the tears haven't stopped
"I need y'all to know we aren't teammates anymore. Y'all are my brothers." Nick spoke to the team as they stood in a circle
"Oh, i didn't see you A'Zanae. Brothers and sister. You feel me?" Nick corrected himself as the team cheered
"I always thought of myself as one of y'all but when i go back to the suburbs, I don't have to be." Drew spoke up.
"Nah, you're our brother too." Jace said
"They're scorching us online, saying we are a disgrace to youth basketball."
"Aye, yo, J.Cole just reposted us in the protest and what happened to us in the restaurant."
Ready to go home, she gave Drew a kiss on the cheek letting him know she was leaving and walked to the car where her parents waited for her.

As it was now two days later, A'Zanae sat in the car scrolling on Instagram. Her parents were making her go to her therapist 3 times a week now due to her selective mutism now becoming mutism. She didn't talk at all, she wouldn't color, she was barely eating and her parents were starting to get worried.
