"Tell me you're doing nothing tonight." Yandy sat at her vanity and powered her nose.
"I'm doing nothing tonight. I guess it's safe to say we're going somewhere, right?"
"Yup. Get your sexy dress on. Pick you up in thirty!" Before Dani could testify against wearing something that could potentially give her a row of bunions, Yandy hung up.Most of Dani's time was spent practicing, working, reading, or sleeping. At a young age, her father instilled the importance of time; he wanted her to understand that time is not to be wasted. That every second can be deposited into profitable machines. There was no time to go out and do dumb shit like most 24-year-olds, and she never desired to.
But, Yandy and Anna had been the first two people who befriended her in the dance studio and she didn't want to eradicate that alliance. So, she found the energy to get out of her bed and try to pull off the act.
Her most recent dress was a white mesh cut-out long-sleeved mini dress that accentuated every bit of her maidenly figure. She bought that dress purposely by accident. No seriously, she was drunk one night and ordered it online. A few days later, UPS arrived and she thought it was a joke.
After twenty-two minutes of scattering around the room like a rat struggling to survive, Dani finally slid her feet into a pair of black faux suede heels which were designed with an ankle-strapped buckle that emphasized her risque image. Peeling her blow-dried hair back, she hauled a necessary exhalation while staring at herself in the mirror. Her reflection extended her confidence more than she thought.
Snatching up her clutch bag, and walking out of the room with poise, Dani felt she was ready for the night ahead. She arrived downstairs and Mary's smile was blinding as she analyzed how put together Dani looked.
"How do I look?" Dani twirled around and she was excited to see how excited Mary was.
"You look gorgeous! Reminds me of my dancing days. Twirl around again!"
Dani did and that time she did it slowly. As she turned to Mary's face, Gunner stood behind his mother with a textured vibe of lechery and consternation. She rapidly sucked in the air. He always had a way of being stealthy.
"So, you're going out with the girls?" Mary inquired and Dani ripped her eyes from their minor intense eye-fucking session."Yeah, we're going to a club." A sudden ring blared through her phone. Yandy and Anna had been outside waiting in the car, blasting music that could potentially deter their hearing, "Gotta go. I'll be gone four hours tops."
"Do you have pepper spray?"
"Taser gun. I don't do pepper spray. Bye!" Dani pecked Mary's cheek and dashed out of the house while trying not to twitch and fall.
The popular female rapper's lyrics were pretty audible, although the car windows were rolled up. A fire of uncertainty boiled inside Dani.
"Hubba-hubba!" Yandy teased and playfully pinched Dani's arm.
"Sexy Mama!" Anna chimed in.
"Thank you, thank you." Dani bowed her head.
"Alright, let's hit the road so we can show you off! Whoo!" Yandy sped off like a Nascar racer and from the window Gunner watched with concern written all over his face.
Mary plopped her exasperated body onto the couch opposite Gunner who seemed to be extremely peeved.
"... She's going out to a club?" Gunner couldn't ask any other way and his natural brutish mannerisms didn't help him deliver the question with finesse.
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
"Just asking..."
Silence ensued."Did she say exactly where she was going?" Gunner asked, keeping his eyes glued on the iPhone.
