Jake was struggling to process the situation he was in, but all he could do was scream.
"W-We are falling! We are falling! We are gonna die!!"
After a few seconds, Jake felt his right arm being grabbed by something, causing him to stop falling.
"H-Huh?" Jake said as he slowly looked up. Mika was holding his arm. Immense relief washed over him.
"I thought you were aware it wasn't going to be safe," Mika said with a grin.
"Technically, you said it might not be safe. I just hoped your escape method wouldn't kill me!"
"Still, your expressions were priceless. Hahaha."
"Shut up... why are we so high up in the sky anyway? And what the hell did you do to get us here? Also, are you flying?"
"I tried teleporting us away from that location but ended up missing the right coordinates. And yeah, we are kind of flying..."
"Jesus, what other law of physics are you going to break next? Also, can we get down?"
As Jake looked down, he could see a good portion of New York City at night. It was beautiful from this height.
"Fine, let's see if I can get it right this time..."
Just as Mika finished her sentence, they disappeared again, reappearing on the rooftop of another apartment not too far from their own.
"I don't think I'll ever want to do that again... what if you teleport me inside a wall? No thank you," Jake said.
"Relax. Even if that happened, I could just get you out."
"I think I'd be dead at that point. Can you even revive the dead? Actually, don't answer that question. I don't want to know..." Jake sighed.
Mika thought for a moment. Reviving the dead sounded like a taboo. But if the situation called for it, she probably wouldn't hesitate to try.
Meanwhile, Jake notices something. His glasses were gone.
"Shit, I think my glasses might have fallen during that whole thing."
"Oh, no problem, I can get them for you", Mika says as she raises her right hand open.
One second later, Jake's glasses appear on it like a magic trick. It seems she could teleport anything she wanted. Jake was expecting her to do something like this.
"Anyway", he says as he picks and puts his glasses on. "Who were those guys?"
"I'm not sure. They certainly weren't the police because some of them also had the intent of killing us. They must be from some sort of secret organization."
"Wait, how do you know this again? Their intention, I mean."
"Ah, right, I forgot to say. I can kind of read the brain patterns of people. You know, when you're thinking, your brain emits electrical signals, and there's a pattern for specific emotions or intentions, like bloodlust."
"So it's a kind of mind reading?"
"Somewhat. I can't exactly tell your verbal thoughts, though."
"But you could if you really wanted to?"
"...Yes."
"Great, you just became 200% creepier."

[Mika's Apartment]
"No entity or individual found, sir," said one of the soldiers of the Paranormal Anomaly Division to its leader, who was watching the events from the HQ of the organization through the soldier's head camera.
"Search for anything that might give us a lead. And investigate the identity of that apartment's owner. I want to know everything."
"Understood."
