Fireheart was dreaming that night. What? Surprised? It wasn't pleasant either. Nightmares of ShadowClan invading plagued him whenever he slept, and it always Tigerclaw who would lead the charge. He didn't know why the ex-Thunderclan warrior would go to ShadowClan, yet it didn't seem far from the realm of possibility's.

Something weird happened that dream however, the usual cold and darkness was overturned by what seemed like a warm, loving embrace. Something about it made Fireheart combatable, like a beam of sunshine hit him, chasing away all the bad dreams and darkness. He could just stay there, forever....

"Well isn't that just cute."

Yellowfang's retort awoke Fireheart from his slumber. He was initially confused, the only thing he could see was a beautiful dappled coat... "Spottedleaf!". Shock and embarrassment almost made his spirit jump out of his soul. Spottedleaf had SLEPT WITH HIM. He didn't know how to react, his thoughts scrambled like a word puzzle. "Wha-what are you doing?".

She raised her head warily, almost unbothered by his shocked reaction. "Why good morning, sir twitch-a-lot." She turned to Yellowfang. "The poor thing was having bad dreams last night, came in here asking for poppy seeds and somewhere to sleep. I figured if I kept him company he'd calm down a bit."

Yellowfang grunted, seemingly believing her story. "Better get out of here Fireheart, better for the rest of the clan not see you like this."

Still flabbergasted, Fireheart could only nod to the two of them before scampering away. Spottedleaf hoped she hadn't scared him, she was only trying to help! She turned her head to see Yellowfang beckoning for her to follow as she padded towards the corner of the den. Carefully tip-toeing around the sleeping body of Cinderpelt, who had been irreverent to this point, she followed Yellowfang. Once they were certain they were alone, Yellowfang began to speak.

"Listen Spottedleaf, I know you have feelings for Fireheart, but you need to be careful." Spottedleaf opened her mouth to object, but Yellowfang raised a paw to stop her. "And don't try to deny me, I've been around enough to tell when a cat's in love or not.". She sighed, "Look, as much as it's disliked, having a mate is against the Medicine cat code. I'm not saying to stop associating with him, but you need to be cautions with this relationship, because it could end up hurting you more then benefiting.". She paused for a moment, "Something that I'm all too familiar with." She finished with a sigh, containing a small trace of regret and sorrow.

Spottedleaf was confused. How was Yellowfang familiar with breaking the rules? How could a relationship with Firestar end up hurting her? She never got the chance to answer though, as Yellowfang stood up and began walking towards the entrance. "I'm leaving to collect herbs" She whispered, "Think about what I said."

Spottedleaf watched her leave. She felt as if she had been planted in a wheat field and told to find a way out. What was she going to do? She herd Cinderpelt stir nearby, accompanied from a tired meow, "What was that all about?"

"Nothing Cinderpelt" She sighed, "Yellowfang was just expressing her concern about the catnip plants not growing well enough". Just herbs and plants. She could only wish it were that simple.

It had been quiet that day, almost too quiet that day. Like a calm before a storm, except there was no cloud in sight. I looked overhead just to be sure. It was a clear sunny day, with a slightly cool breeze that would soon bring leaf-fall along with it. I grunted, harder times were ahead, just had to enjoy the good hunting and weather while it lasted. The camp was mostly empty, everyone was either out on patrol, hunting, or training. It seemed like everyone was out enjoying Greenleaf while it was still hear. Me, I'm just chilling alone, vibing almost. I'd put some music on if I could, oh wait cats don't have earbuds. I didn't get to enjoy that luxury as of now. What a shame.

It just seemed peaceful, I could hear the birds chirping off in the distance as the sun began to dip bellow the top tree line, it seemed like all was peaceful in the forest. A sharp yowl cut off that thought off. I turned to see a panic stricken Graystripe tumbling into the camp yowling " I need a medicine cat."

Well there goes that moment of peace

I stride over to him, "What's wrong. Where you hurt at?"

He looks at me wildly, "It's not me, my mate, Silverstream. She giving birth at Sunningrocks, but something's gone wrong, there was so much blood."

If I could face palm I would, knew I was forgetting something.

Following Graystripe, I ran a fast I could through the forest. Scolding myself in my mind, "You knew this was coming, why didn't you do anything about it? " I was just caught up in the moment again, never seemed like I could enjoy a moment of peace. Fortunately for Graystripe, Spottedleaf was still hanging around, and was able to keep pace with us as we moved towards Sunningrocks. I knew Cinderpelt wouldn't make it fast enough.

Seeing Silverstream in the state that she was in would make any cat want to duck down and cry. Blood was everywhere and her pained screams of birth could probably be heard from the other side of the forest. Spottedleaf seemed unfazed from all of this, soothing the soon to be mother and helping her with the birthing process whilst also trying to treat the internal wounds the labor had caused. With some assistance they were able to get Silverstream through the birthing process alive, and with some effort managed to carry the queen across her shoulders back to the Thunderclan camp where she could receive proper care. After a long couple of hours, Spottedleaf finally reemerged from the medicine den where a distressed Graystripe was waiting. "Will she be alright?" He demanded, his voice shaking.

She nodded, " Yes she is very weak, do not disturb her, she needs all the rest she can get." Nodding, Graystripe padded inwards to sit by her side as she rested. I couldn't help but feel bad for the man. Watching their mate die knowing they can't do anything about it had to be the worst feeling in the world, something that I could only imagine.

Spottedleaf felt extremely tired after the days events, and it was safe to say she never expected anything like this. She needed to focus however, Silverstream would be ok for the night but they would need more healing items for later. She had to go collect them at some point, but it was in the middle of the night, she didn't want to go alone. Looking around there were very little cats remaining awake at the time, but one caught her eye, one all to familiar. Fireheart. He would be prefect. Strong, noble, and willing to do anything for his friend. She padded over to him, and (you guessed it) caught him by surprise. "I need help collecting herbs for Silverstream, would you mind accompanying me?"

Seeming eager at the chance to help his friend, Fireheart sprang up, nodding and replying "Of course, lets go." She nodded and led the way. Fireheart's heart began to beat a little faster. " Could this be the chance I can finally tell her how I feel?"
