Noah's POV

I stood in front of two large doors, opening the doors with all my strength I was shocked to see a huge library filled with books but a bunch of high tech computers lined up. But as soon as I ran into the library, I was blinded by my bedroom lights and woke up to a huge banging sound. I quickly arose from my bed, scratching the back of my head. It was just a dream. I sighed, getting up from the comforts of my bed. I didn't hate school, it was mainly the people who got on my nerves. ; As I got ready for the day, I could hear my younger siblings making a fuss downstairs. They were annoying at most times but it was funny when they would accidentally say the most outlandish things out loud. I grabbed my book bag and headed downstairs, I usually had to make breakfast myself since my mom was so busy taking care of my younger siblings. She felt bad she couldn't provide much for me but I don't mind much, I like doing things myself anyway. I grabbed a granola bar from the pantry and said goodbye to my siblings and my mom before heading out the door. My dad already left for work, he usually leaves work really early in the morning before any of us wake up. I love both of my parents, they work really hard to provide for us and I appreciate it. If it weren't for them, I probably wouldn't be a functional person. I walked down the street, my school wasn't too far from my house, just a few blocks away. I watched the car's past by me, I like looking around my surroundings and just observing the small things. Like how the same birds sit on the same branch everyday or the same piece of gum that's always in the same spot on the sidewalk. But time passes fast and soon enough I was already at school.

As I walked towards the substantial building, opening the doors, the smell had hit my nose right away. The musty school air was diabolical, it felt toxic the moment I stepped inside. Gosh, they need to do a lot of renovations around this school. One day everyone here will die because of this toxic air. I started walking towards the direction of my locker, I memorized my code by heart. I don't know how people don't remember their code still, it's the middle of the school year. Suddenly, i felt a cold presence by me that sent shivers down my spine. I looked towards my right, to notice Heather Kasuga standing right next to me, looking right at me. Actually, why am I afraid? Me and Heather are on good terms.

"Noah, did you hear about the new science project we're doing? I heard it's gonna be such a drag." Heather sighed in distress, she always smelt good as she always puts 10 layers of perfume on for each period.

"I heard, I'm not too fond of it either."

"I hope my partner isn't Sierra or Alejandro." She frowned, crossing her arms and leaning against one of the lockers.

"I hope so too, both of them seem like bad options. But I feel that Alejandro will be more help in the project, though I dont know Sierra much. How does she act?"

"Sierra is chronically online and it hurts, trust me, i'm on social media a lot but this girl is on the INTERNET 24/7! it's creepy how she knows so much, just off the internet alone. Oh and she seems to have a huge crush on this guy, I believe his name is Cody? I've seen him before and he looks like a total loser." Heather looked at her nails, I looked at her, confused. Cody? Heard of that name before but I couldn't care less.

Suddenly the bell rang, I sighed as I looked at Heather. She returned the same sigh back to me, we said our goodbyes and parted ways. I had science first period so it was a bummer to hear about the science project first thing in the morning. I could barely process things right now. I walked into science class, sitting down. My seat was always cold because no one had sat in it before me. We waited for the bell the ring again, then our science teacher came inside setting down her stack of papers and notebooks.

"Good Morning class, as you might of have heard we have a science project and this requires partners of two. Does everyone here have a partner?" The science teacher raised her eyebrow, most hands went up which meant that they had someone to work with. I looked around anxiously, my friend Owen wasn't here today. Which meant I have to work with someone else. I looked around the room, there was one kid who didn't have a partner. He was a brunette with freckles wearing a long sleeved yellow baseball tee with cargo pants. I've seen him before but never knew his name nor cared for him. Suddenly I snapped back to reality.

"Noah? Would you like to be partners with Cody?" The science teacher looked over at me, I tilted my head like a confused puppy.

"Cody? Whos that?" The class started laughing quietly, I heard snickers and giggles throughout the room. Was it really that funny? I didn't know the kid that Sierria girl liked is in my class.

"That's Cody." The science teacher pointed to him, she seemed to frown at me. I mean, I didn't do anything wrong I was just confused. I looked over, he had a sheepish expression on his face, giving me a slight wave.

"Okay now lets begin, you and your partner will sit together and--..." The teacher went on, explaining the project. Students began switching seats to be seated next to designated partner. Cody walked on over to my table, sitting down next to me. I didn't feel like having a conversation with this kid but he decided to open his mouth anyway.

"Sooo... You're Noah, right? I'm Cody." He had a toothy grin on his face, he tried offering a handshake but I declined.

"We're only partners for this project, I'm not the one to make friends." I don't like making friends unless I start getting used to them, having too many friends could lead to many problems so that's why I just stick to my small friend group. Izzy, Owen and Eva are the people I hang out with mostly. I have other friends such as Heather and Gwen but I'm not as close to them as I am with my friend group.

"Oh, alright then." Cody turned to face the board, I felt slightly bad because he seemed like he really wanted to get to know each other more but I'm not really into becoming friends. But after a few minutes he whispered something to me.

"You know, I really like science. It's probably my favorite  subject. Oh and, do you have any hobbies?" Cody looked over at me, waiting for a response. I didn't wanna leave him sitting there with no answer so I sighed as I glanced over at him.

"I like playing video games and... Reading books I guess." He shrugged, Noah only read books when his phone was dead or there was no computer nearby. Noah is always on his computer, phone or game console 24/7 just playing video games. He used to roleplay online and sometimes he does for shits and giggles but he doesn't share that with anybody.

"Oh cool, I'm kinda like a geek. Well actually, I am. Everyone calls me a geek anyway. I would say I'm pretty smart, like computer smart!" Cody quietly bragged to me about how much he knows about computers. I guess Sierra and Cody are made for each other. But I realized how smart this guy is, and I thought I was smart.

The class went on for a couple of minutes before finally ending, I got up from my seat and left the room. Cody followed behind and tugged onto my backpack, I turned around and just frowned at him.

"I was wondering if you wanted to meet up at lunch or something." He smiled at me but I just walked away, leaving him dumbfounded. Now that was pretty fucked up of me to do that, but man I don't know. Saying no to him was probably a better option than just leaving him with no answer. But I don't know this kid good, and plus I told him I didn't wanna be friends. I guess he can't take no for an answer.

Went through half of my classes without tweaking out for a minute, what a world record. Finally, it was lunch. I always brought my own since I don't trust the ones here at school, they're probably radioactive or laced with some type of drug. ; I sat down at the table me and my friends usually sit at, for some reason I started thinking about that Cody kid. I wonder where he's at right now. But I shouldn't think too much of it, afterall he's only my science partner.

I went through the day normally as usual, I didn't see Cody for the rest of the day. I went home and stayed in my room as usual, for some reason I was thinking to myself, was I too harsh? Maybe I should make more friends outside of my friend group. I want to do something different for this year.
