Pov Xaver:

Jason hit me unexpectedly, and I couldn’t defend myself in time. He forced me down to the ground, and I tried to push him away with my hands. "You’re way too weak to beat me!", the brown-haired one declared. "I’m not!" With a powerful kick to the stomach, I managed to catch Jason off guard for a second and pushed him off me. I got up and prepared for the next attack. Jason held his hand to his stomach and glared at me with rage. I didn’t know what gave me the determination, but this time I had no intention of giving up.
Jason aimed his fist at me, and at the last moment, I dodged. He was damn fast. I couldn’t lose sight of him and had to track every one of his moves; otherwise, it would be over for me. "Take this!", Jason shouted as he charged at me. With an uncertain step to the right, I dodged him and managed to scratch his face. All eyes were on us. It was rare for someone to challenge the Alpha. This time, however, it wasn’t just about the position. It was mainly about breaking free from Jason and showing that I was worthy of being called Alpha.
Jason confronted me with a whole series of punches. I had to keep stepping backward to evade them. Suddenly, I slipped with one foot on a puddle and was violently pulled down by Jason. He was about to punch me in the face when I caught his fist with my hand. A slight crack was heard, and a sharp pain shot through my hand. However, I ignored it and used my free hand to hit Jason. He stumbled back, holding his nose. When he removed his hand, both it and his nose were covered in blood. Jason looked at me in horror and growled, "You bastard!" Again, he lunged at me and kicked me hard in the stomach, causing me to buckle. Jason grabbed me and slammed my head against his knee. Before I could react, I was back on the wet ground, staring into Jason’s triumphant grin. I had to cough and spit out blood. I was probably covered in it. The pain was unbearable, so different from when Jason had forced himself on me. This was perhaps the first time I felt the pain of a real fight. My body felt heavy and seemed to no longer obey me. Jason kept hitting me, and everything around me seemed to fade away. I couldn’t hear anything anymore, and my vision was slightly blurred. Was this my end? Should I give up? Why was I even doing this? The temptation to throw everything away was more than seductive. All the pain would stop, and I wouldn’t have to fight anymore. "-ver! Xaver!", I heard a panicked voice calling. My gaze fell on the others. Mia and Jack were holding Dan, who was trying to break free from them. His blue eyes looked at me with fear and concern. Dan, I thought. Suddenly, I remembered why I was doing this. I was fighting for him. For him, I had to keep going.
I squeezed my eyes shut and returned to reality. Jason was still hitting me, but I managed to dodge his next punch, and he hit nothing but the ground. I took advantage of the surprise and turned us so that I was on top of him. My opponent was completely taken aback by the situation, and I seized the moment to attack him. My first punch was hard, the second even harder. Blood flowed from his mouth and nose, splattering on me with each hit. "You bastard!", I shouted angrily. "All those years! All those years you’ve done terrible things to me, made my life hell! Take what you deserve and die!" I released all my frustration, all the anger that had built up over the years, into my blows. It felt so good to finally give Jason what he deserved. I was in a rage and didn’t even notice that Jason had stopped moving. My breathing was quick, and I stared emotionlessly at the body in front of me. He was dead. Jason was really dead. Tears streamed down my face. However, they were not tears of sorrow but rather of exhaustion, relief, and hope. I could hardly comprehend this when suddenly someone grabbed me from behind and pulled me away from Jason. Everything moved in slow motion. The astonished faces over Jason's lifeless body, the concerned questions from Mia and Jack, and Dan's embrace. I didn’t really catch what they were saying. In my mind, I was still fighting Jason, still suffering the pain. The only thing I could say with a trembling voice was, "He’s dead." Dan sank to the ground with me and held me tighter. "Yes. Xaver, you did it. It’s over.", Dan told me joyfully, almost in tears. My gaze was vacant, and I stared into the vast nothingness. The last thing I heard was the panicked shouts of the others before everything went silent and black.
