I walked out of the dorm building and found Joe standing by his car with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. They weren't roses, it was an assortment of different beautiful flowers. How'd he know I wasn't big on roses?

"You look beautiful," he said as he walked over to hug me and give me the flowers.

"You look quite dashing yourself," I say with a smile. He was wearing a white button up and a pair of black jeans and some basic tennis shoes. He looked perfect though, smelled amazing.

Reneé's words lingered in my mind, You're falling for him. I don't believe that at all, he's just my friend, right? He and I got in the car and drove around for a while, he put his hand on my knee again, I smiled when he did.

"Where are you taking me?" I giggled, we'd been driving around for almost 30 minutes now, I was becoming restless.

"Be patient, Jas, we aren't much further," he replied, I could hear the excitement in his voice, it was adorable.

He finally parked the car saying, "Here we are."

"A lake?" I question as I get out of the car.

"Come on," he says. A picnic basket and blanket practically spawned in his hands, I assume he got them out of the back seat. The lakeside picnic was a beautiful sight. We laughed and talked as we ate, I've never enjoyed myself this much.

"So how many other girls have you brought here?" I joked as I took a sip of my drink.

"Just you," he said honestly, "I found this place a a few days after I first spent the night with you and I thought of you. It's pretty during the day but I think I prefer it at night. The lake looks beautiful in the moonlight. You look beautiful in the moonlight."

I blushed at his words, "Who knew Joe Burrow was such a romantic?" I say, taking another sip of my drink. He chuckled at my remark.

We had finished eating already, we were laying there together, both of us on our backs, my head on his chest, stargazing.

"So which one is that?" I ask as I point out a constellation.

"Sagittarius?" he says with uncertainty.

"Yes! See, I know you passed the exam."

"Or maybe I just know my zodiac sign," he chuckled.

"When's your birthday?" I ask as I turn my head to look up at him.

"December 10th, yours?"

"May 4th."

"Do you like Star Wars?" he asks.

"I saw the first three movies, those are my favorite. The ones after that are cool I guess."

"I like Star Wars, I'm thinking about buying a lightsaber."

"Are you serious?" I sit up and laughed.

"Dead serious," he smiled. We sat there smiling at each other, we really enjoyed each other's company. I noticed how close we were to each other, how close our faces were to each other. Before I knew it we were getting closer to each other, my eyes had closed on reflex. I knew what was about to happen, something in me pulled me back.

"We, uh, we should get going," I say. I could see the disappointment on Joe's face when I opened my eyes. I felt bad, but I was afraid of what could happen to our friendship if we crossed that line.

We drove back in silence. Reneé texted me when I was close to my dorm building.

Jasmine Green. You clearly have feelings for this boy. The two of you went on a date that I have yet to receive details on but I'm sure was romantic and YOU DIDN'T KISS HIM??? ARE YOU INSANE??

I don't want to risk losing him as a friend.

JASMINE IF YOU DON'T FUCKING KISS THAT MAN I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL HIT YOU WHEN YOU GET BACK HOME.

PLEASE LET YOURSELF HAVE SOMETHING YOU DESERVE FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE.

Sorry for yelling but seriously. He obviously makes you happy I could hear it in your voice when you were talking about him on the phone. You deserve this. Don't let this go to waste.

Oh my god you're right.

I know I am.

Joe arrived at my dorm building and walked me upstairs to my room. He and I said goodnight and he began walking away. I knew I had to do it, Reneé was right, I owed it to myself to be with him.

"Joe wait."

He turned around awaiting me to say something more. I walked over to and looked up at him, I was glad my shoes gave me a little extra height. He was looking down at me, without a second thought I stood up on my tiptoes and kissed him. I could feel his confusion melt into comfort, his hands made their way to my waist while mine were on his cheeks.

I pulled away and asked, "this is okay right?"

He smiled and rolled his eyes, "come here." He pulled me back into the kiss, his lips were so soft. Everything felt so right with him, the way he kissed me made time stop, the kiss could last seconds or hours and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. He finally pulled away, I was a little breathless when he did. I couldn't stop smiling and neither could he.

"Goodnight Jasmine," he smiled.

"Goodnight Joey," I turned around and closed my door calling Reneé immediately after.
