The streets were slick with water, reflecting the dim, flickering street lights. The sound of rain tapping against windows and rooftops was accompanied by the distant rumble of thunder. Shadows stretched and shifted as people hurried by, seeking shelter from the relentless downpour. Trump was looking out his window sighing as he stood in his office alone. His butler, Elon Musk came in and placed crumpets on his desk.
Elon stood in the doorway, concerned for Trump who had been standing at the window for hours. "How are you feeling sir? Is your ear okay?"
Trump sighed reluctantly, as he snapped out of his daze. Looking at Elon waving him off. "Yes, it's fine... Thank you for the crumpets."
"Of course. Oh, Biden called earlier today." Trump's expression hardened at the mention of Biden. He turned away from the window and faced Elon, his voice tinged with irritation. "What did he want?"
"He didn't say much; he just said that he wished the person had a better aim." The tension between Trump and Biden had always been palpable, marked by a history of sharp exchanges and political rivalry. The recent comment from Biden only served to exacerbate the animosity, leaving Trump visibly agitated. Elon watched silently, understanding that this feud was far from over.
"Of course he did... You're excused." Trump said a bit frustrated, pinching the bridge of his nose. Elon nodded silently, a flicker of concern crossing his face. He turned and left the room, closing the door softly behind him. As he walked down the dimly lit hallway, he couldn't shake the feeling that the tension between the two leaders was reaching a boiling point.
Trump sighed deeply, walked to his desk, and sat down staring at his shoes. He sat up and moved his chair closer to his desk, looking down at the scattered papers and then at the crumpets Butler Elon had left him.
Trump's mind raced with thoughts of Biden's recent provocations. He couldn't help but wonder if there was a deeper motive behind Biden's cryptic message. As he chewed on the crumpet, he contemplated whether this was a mere political jab or a prelude to something more significant. It didn't matter, but something kept telling Trump that it probably meant something. Maybe instead of being bitter about their past why not reconnect? Despite dismissing the thought, a small part of him couldn't shake the idea of making amends. The constant back-and-forth was exhausting, and perhaps a truce could benefit both of them in the long run. Still, old grudges and political ambitions made the possibility seem remote, and Trump knew he had to stay focused on the upcoming debate. It's time to move forward.
But was he ready to move forward? To just throw their history away? Looking down at his hands before clutching them into fists he shook his head and walked out of his office to head down to the debate stage. As he walked out listening to and hearing the crowd he gave a nervous smile and waved, walking to his podium to wait for Biden.
In a dimly lit room sat Biden looking frustrated, but about what? The debate started in fifteen minutes. But was he ready? He didn't know.
Biden stood up and walked to the curtains. Beyond them were people who were there to support him, but most importantly Trump was there... It was the first time he'd been interacting with him since...
He took a breath and walked onto the stage. A crowd roared and cheered his name. Biden waved and smiled at them. Then making eye contact with Trump, he froze his heart beating fast. His smile dropped for a second before picking it back up, and walking to his podium he stood timidly. Glancing at Trump then at the papers he had ready for his speech.
Biden started speaking to the crowd, glancing every few minutes back at Trump, but this caused him to slip up on some words since he couldn't focus on anything he was saying. All he wanted to do was talk to him again, to be around him. He knew he couldn't so he kept his speech fixed, his tone sounding more confident and sure of his words trying to sound and act casual. This made Trump curious as to why he kept looking at him, and how he suddenly got more confident. After some time it was Trump's turn to speak. He spoke confidently and in a leading tone. After the speech and the crowd started leaving, Biden couldn't help but replay their past encounters in his mind, wondering if there was any chance for reconciliation. The weight of their shared history bore heavily on his shoulders, and he found himself questioning whether his political aspirations were worth more than a potential truce. As he watched Trump exit the stage, Biden's thoughts wavered between the desire to extend an olive branch and the fear of being rebuffed. By the time Biden got out of his head Trump had already left, leaving him on the stage alone with only security there with him. Leaving him no choice but to go home... Sulking as he walked back stage and to the exit where he had a car already waiting for him, making him sigh in regret, as he missed an opportunity to reconcile with Trump. All he can do now is think back and plan his next move cause surely they will see each other again because of the campaign. As he arrived home with security walking him inside, he walked to his room changing into normal house clothes and sat on the edge of his bed with his head in his hands. Contemplating what would've happened if he hadn't missed his chance. He laid back sighing staring up at the ceiling, before crawling up to his pillows and covering himself with his blankets. Silently sobbing as he fell asleep..
