Over the next few weeks, Haechan slowly began to heal. The nightmares still haunted him, but the support of his friends and Mark made them bearable. Renjun, Chenle, and the others visited often, their presence a constant reminder of the normalcy he longed to return to.

Haechan had found solace in the routines of his daily life at the base, the camaraderie with his friends, and the steady presence of Mark by his side. He began to take on more responsibilities, helping with missions and training sessions, proving his worth to the team.

Haechan and Mark found themselves sitting together on the balcony outside Mark's room. The sky was painted in hues of pink and orange, the air filled with the soft sounds of nature.

Haechan sighed contentedly, leaning back against the railing. ❝It's beautiful out here.❞

Mark nodded, his eyes fixed on the horizon. ❝It is. And so are you.❞

Haechan turned to look at him, his heart skipping a beat at the sincerity in Mark's eyes. ❝Mark...❞

Mark reached out, taking Haechan's hand in his. ❝I mean it, Haechan. You've been through so much, but you've come out stronger. You inspire me every day.❞

Haechan felt a warmth spread through him at Mark's words. He squeezed Mark's hand, a silent acknowledgment of the bond they shared. ❝I don't know what the future holds, but I'm glad I have you by my side.❞

Mark leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Haechan's forehead. ❝Me too, Haechan❞

The seasons changed, so did Haechan's life. He embraced his role within the team, his confidence growing with each passing day. The pain of the past was still there, but it no longer defined him. Instead, it became a part of his story, a testament to his strength and resilience.

He and Mark grew closer, their bond deepening with time. They shared quiet moments of reflection, bursts of laughter, and the comfort of each other's presence. Their relationship became a source of strength for both of them, a beacon of hope and love in a world that could often be harsh and unforgiving.

After a long day, Mark found Haechan sitting alone on the rooftop, staring at the stars. He sat down beside him, the silence between them comfortable.

Do you ever think about what your life would be like if things were different?❞ Haechan asked quietly.

Mark nodded. ❝All the time. But I've learned that what matters most is how we deal with the cards we're dealt.❞

Haechan sighed. ❝I just wish I could turn back time. Do things differently.❞

Mark put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. ❝We can't change the past, but we can shape our future. And you're not alone in this. You have me.❞

Haechan looked at Mark, his eyes filled with gratitude.

You know,❞ Haechan said softly, ❝life isn't always about guns and scars. It's about moments like this, about finding peace and happiness with the people you love.❞

Mark nodded, ❝You're right. We've been through a lot, but it's those moments of peace that make it all worth it.❞

Haechan turned to look at Mark, his eyes shining with gratitude and love. ❝Thank you for being my constant, Mark. For helping me see that there's more to life than the pain and the past.❞

Mark smiled, ❝I'll always be here for you, Haechan. No matter what.❞

They sat there for a while longer, the stars twinkling above them, a silent promise of better days ahead. Slowly but surely, Haechan began to feel that maybe, just maybe, he could find his way back to happiness with Mark and his friends by his side.

As the night grew colder, Mark noticed Haechan shivering slightly. He wrapped an arm around Haechan's shoulders, pulling him closer. Haechan looked up at Mark, their faces just inches apart. The soft light of the moon highlighted Mark's features, making him look even more handsome than usual.

Mark, do you ever think about... us?❞ Haechan asked hesitantly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Mark's eyes softened as he gazed down at Haechan. ❝I do. More than you know.❞

Without thinking, Haechan leaned in, his lips brushing against Mark's. The kiss was tentative at first, a question rather than an answer. Mark responded by deepening the kiss, his hand cupping Haechan's cheek, pulling him closer. The world around them faded, leaving just the two of them under the night sky.

When they finally pulled apart, both were breathless. Mark rested his forehead against Haechan's, his eyes closed as he tried to steady his racing heart.

I've wanted you ever since i laid my eyes on you,❞ Mark admitted.

Me too,❞ Haechan whispered, a shy smile spreading across his face.

Mark gently stroked Haechan's hair. ❝No matter what happens, I'll always be here with you. I promise.❞

Haechan nodded, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. For the first time in a long while, he felt truly safe and cherished.

Thank you,❞ Haechan said, his voice filled with emotion.

Mark looked at him, a soft smile playing on his lips. ❝For what?❞

For everything,❞ Haechan replied. ❝For being there, for believing in me, for loving me.❞

Mark stopped walking, turning to face Haechan fully. He cupped Haechan's face in his hands, his eyes filled with tenderness. ❝You don't have to thank me, Haechan. Loving you is the easiest thing I've ever done.❞

Haechan felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes, but they were tears of joy, of hope, of a future filled with endless possibilities. He leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Mark's lips. When they pulled apart, they both knew that this was just the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in their lives.

Together, they walked back to the base, hand in hand, ready to face whatever the future held, knowing that they had each other to lean on, to love, and to cherish. And in that moment, Haechan knew that he had found his home, his family, and his heart.
