Burning Question
Izuku woke up to the sun attempting to blind him with its golden light.
If going blind gets him out of doing a test well...
Izuku smiled to himself before he sat up in bed and a mix of nerves and excitement coursed through him. Today was going to be tough, but he was ready to face it head-on.
Well, the sports was a different issue, he thought as he slipped on his new trainers, he couldn't help but smile.
Damn. When did he last feel good while smiling?
Since your useless self believed that you of all people can make a difference.
Izuku's smile stopped hurting his cheeks, flattening. How can he? He hasnt even had a quirk for long enough to know how to control it, properly an he has to compete with others that have had it their entire life?
"Izuku! Can you start the car?" Inko shouted from her room, pulling him out of his mind.
"Yes mom!" He shouted back as he picked up his school bag from the floor, slipped it onto his back in a practised motion and took the key off the table as he opened the door. He sighed as the cold spring air brushed past him as he rubbed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"Today was going to be great," he told himself. "All I gotta do is what 've practised."
As he sat in the car, mentally checked out as he turned the car on, letting the windows defrost while he slowly woke up fully. He felt the tingle in his stomach, a constant reminder of the progress he had made. Though it won't be enough.
Do you actually think you can get into UA because you awakened a quirk?
Laughable, Deku.
It's never. Going. To be. Enough.
You will never be enough.
Izuku gaze shifted from the window to the floor before he closed his eyes while the pages in his book started to ruffle. He wouldn't be enough how could he possibly get into UA. He gripped his skull, how could he possibly get into UA? From the outside, it looked like some regular Joe left the lights on (if you ignore the fact that the light in the car was blue) and the car seemed to... Groan? (Normal thoughts, people!)
Meanwhile, inside the moaning vehicle. Izuku was in a world of his own, specifically his head. While his breaths were starting to become audible.
Why would he delude himself into thinking that he can make it? He felt the textbook move up his leg as its weight lessened on his leg. Probably going to his chest, though it was unable to reach him, like the sounds of the car itself. Izuku's mind stopped as he asked himself the burning question.
Can I even become a hero?
But before his mind could answer, the front door opened, and yes Izuku heard it since some doors just don't know how to keep a secret. His front door included.
Reacting to the door, Izuku's eyes shot open immediately. He refocused on real life as his pupils sharpened and noticed that something was glowing blue. He looked down, towards the source, and noticed it was his torso.
