Davos had been tending to the small fire he had started when the sun began to set, and he had heard what Aeron said. It took all his might not to push into the cabin, yank him from the bed, and beat him senselessly.
Why is he still on that? Davos huffed, running his hand through his disheveled wavy hair. He had gotten over their friendship quickly, but it seemed the Bracken was still clinging to the thought of it. Davos stood, stomping out the fire. He kicked ash onto it, leaving only glowing embers behind. He stalked into the barn, where Phantom was chewing on some hay. She threw her head at him when he reached to pet her. His frown that he didn't know graced his features deepened. He climbed the ladder, this task getting easier each day. His leg was regaining strength, and hopefully, he wouldn't need the crutch much longer. He hated lugging the thing around. The Blackwood dropped himself down on cot that he had hoisted up there a long while ago. It had belonged to Aeron when he stayed there with Davos. There was no use for it other than collecting dust in the barn, but now, Davos found himself using it instead of dying to the Bracken in his sleep. Sleep quickly found him. It found him quickly nowadays, it was his only escape from reality, and the blonde. Alas, this night, he found Davos in his hideaway.
It was the day Davos swore off Aeron, however it was different. "Do you have it?" Aeron didn't speak, instead lifted his wrist to reveal the leather string tied around his wrist. The Blackwood took it, gingerly parting Aeron's hair into three sections. He began weaving them together, until he got to the end. He tied a loose knot, then wrapped the remainder around the end, tying it once more. He jiggled it, deeming it secured. "I don't know what it is, but I like your hair, its very silky, reminds me of a woman's." He smirked, running his hand up the boy's forearms, the tips of his fingers dancing on his shoulders, to his collar bone. Davos leant forward, pushing the braid to the side. Aeron stiffened, his breath shuddering as the raven-haired boy's hot lips brushed his shoulder, moving towards his neck quickly. Aeron squirmed, gasping once Davos' lips found the underside of his jaw. Davos used his hands to pull the boy close, practically sitting on his lap. He left one hand on Aeron's waist, while the other traveled to grip the boy's chin. He pulled it around, and that's when their lips met. The kiss was feverish, as if they would die without it. Aeron took the lead, which was a surprise to the older. He spun himself, where he was facing Davos. His legs snaked around the other boy's waist, leaving no space between them. He laced his hands through the Blackwood's wet wavy locks, tugging slightly. This elicited a groan from Davos, which seemed to egg the blonde on. He let his hands explore Davos, every inch of his chest was left untouched. The kiss became sloppy, both needing a break to take a breath. Davos was the one to pull away, placing his forehead in the crook of Aeron's neck.
"Davos I-" before Aeron could finish, the raven-haired boy shushed him.
"I love you, Aeron Bracken. I have loved you since I saw you across the boundary stones all of those years ago. I didn't see it as love then, but now I know it true. I have never felt this way towards anyone. You are my dearest friend, no one could ever compare to you." He let all his feelings come rushing out at once. When Aeron did not speak, Davos feared to look up at him. Aeron lifted his chin, looking deeply into his eyes. "I'm sorry, I am a fool for acting on my desires." He began to scoot back, but Aeron's legs held firmly around him, he glanced at the boy, who stared back. He caught his face with his hands, kissing him gently. Davos relaxed, melting into him.
"I love you as well, Davos Blackwood. I too have loved you from that day. I have felt that way a long time, I feared rejection, so I never acted on it." He hugged him, Davos' arms engulfing the smaller-framed boy. He smiled widely, wider than he ever had. They spent the rest of their day in the pool, exchanging loving words, and small kisses.
Davos woke up in a pool of sweat. He hadn't had a dream like that in years, and it scared him. He could not go back to how he was before, he worked so hard to get away from it. For the first time in a long time, Davos Blackwood was scared. Scared of the unknown, scared of what waited outside the barn for him, and scared for the upcoming weeks.
"Fuck," he allowed his hand to fall, smacking his forehead harshly. His eyebrows were knitted together. Below him, Phantom whinnied, waiting to be let out to graze for the day.
