Notes:
A month later and I'm back hehe
sorry for the delay, I had some personal issues, getting back to posting as normally as possible
thank you for being patient
"Morning! Did you have a good night of sleep, Mrs. Shelby?" Mary attempted to strike up a conversation as she pulled open the curtains, the timid sunlight bathing the room, revealing a lazy Leonor still in bed, her dark hair messy and splattered across the white pillows. "You look well rested."
Leonor groaned, sitting up and stretching her arms and neck, all sore and aching, as did her back after a long night of exploring with her willing husband.
Which reminded her...
"Where is he?" She asked, rubbing her eyes, frowning at the empty bed.
"Mr. Shelby had an early meeting, and said he'll be back soon." Mary cleared her throat, spotting the bloody print on the door and sheets, diverting her eyes from it, and opening the window. "Perhaps a light breakfast then your meds-"
"I won't be taking them, Mary." Leonor stood up, wrapping herself in a silk robe before entering the bathroom. "I just began to feel better after getting sick by them last night." She shivered, drinking a glass of water, trying to shush the memory of her vomit fit in the middle of the night.
She hated everything about the act of vomiting, ever since she could remember. She hated the feeling on the back of her throat, she hated how your mouth would fill with water seconds before, she hated the burning sensation, she hated the taste and the smell, even so how you would feel moments later, how you would struggle to regain your breath again, just to happen all again.
But last night was different, it felt like not an hour had passed since Thomas had brought her the sandwich and the sliced apple when she woke up, covering her mouth, rushing to the bathroom, throwing up a mixture of pills, apples, and tea, feeling immediately better, not as dizzy and nauseous as before.
Leonor was brushing her teeth, looking out the door, fearing to awaken Thomas, but he was still sound asleep, even as she unbuckled his belt and unbuttoned his shirt, before coming downstairs, feeling refreshed and well enough to attempt making herself a cup of tea.
She had managed to light up the fire after many attempts and was waiting for the water to boil when Thomas startled her, bursting the kitchen door. Any other day she would complain but what had happened later had made her change her mind.
Leonor almost laughed to herself, a shy smile on her lips as she ate breakfast, glad she was able to taste the food again, diving into a jar of jam and splattering an unhealthy amount across her already-bitten toast, rubbing her bare feet on Juliet's warm fur, the dog belly up under the table, enjoying the ticklish feeling on her chest.
"Mrs. Shelby, you must take your meds." Mary tried, carrying a tray in her hands. "Dr. Holford's instructions were very clear." Leonor just stared at Mary, setting down the toast, and wiping the corners of her lips with a napkin as she discreetly put her shoes back on under the table. "Mr. Shelby insisted on making sure-"
"I think I hear Mr. Shelby's car's coming by." She interrupted the maid as she stood up, snapping her fingers to get Juliet's attention, the dog quickly following her steps to the driveway. Her face fell in disappointment when two more cars followed his, she took a few steps back, breathing in the fresh air. "Come, Juliet, let's see how Romeo is doing."
Preferring shielding herself from whatever was and who was Tommy's business that day, Leonor found herself in the stables, watching as Romeo trotted happily on the soft grass. He would approach the fence from time to time, fetching carrots off her hand. Juliet whined, her paws scratching Leonor's leg asking for a piece, only to spit it out when she got one.
