"Pardon, but what?"
The carriage is already on the move. Kaios is now sitting inside the carriage, conversing with the diplomats.
"Indeed. I begged before you, I will do everything according to your accords for the preservation of the country for the next century– no, decade." Kaios begged.
"As much as we wanted to help you, There's no way for us to negotiate an alliance with you. Both your country and our organization have declared to one another a full-scale war." Garvin explained.
"No. Just a single strand between you and me." Kaios retorted.
"'Me'? As in yourself?" de Wiart asked.
"Yes." Kaios simply answered.
"Prior to the massacre, I had warned my government beforehand. However, it appears they ignored my warning and eventually led to the massacre of your citizens." Kaios continued.
"Warned? Why can't you stop them then?" Garvin questioned.
"I have tried my best to stop this war. But I have little influence, yet I am just a director of the Third Foreign Department. My efforts do nothing, and I have no influence over the Royal Court." Kaios explained.
"Thus, I here present before you, begging you to at least give me another chance. A single chance only!" The Parpaldian director begged.
Garvin and de Wiart glanced at each other, having doubts about whether to give Kaios a chance or not.
The silence and wordless conversation led up to Garvin shrugging his shoulders, and de Wiart sighed off as a response to Garvin.
de Wiart turned to Kaios, "Mister Kaios, this is not the first time. We will give you a chance, one only."
"M-My Gratitu— Not the first time? I beg an answer?" Kaios cut off his words and asked, he was confused.
"In the aftermath of our meeting with Her Highness of yours, a young man who claimed to be from the Paradis Palace confronted us directly in our carriage when we were about to leave the area." Garvin explained.
"He was the first to confront us and struck a deal with us." de Wiart added.
"May I know who is this young man could be?" Kaios asked, completely in bewilderment.
de Wiart glanced at Garvin from the tail of his eye. Garvin responded by saying nothing and leaning forward.
"You may visit the Paradis Palace; I believe they could give you the answer you seek." Garvin answered, which furtherly confuse Kaios even more.
Kaios began to think and recite from his memory for any possible young staff of the palace. But, he thinks again, it is impossible for the staff of the palace to do such a thing. Such action must be considered and require the approval of His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor.
Wait. His Imperial Majesty... Could it be him?
And so Kaios thought. All staff within the palace are mostly above their thirties, with the youngest being 33 years old. His Imperial Majesty has just turned 27 years old last year.
The possibility of the Emperor being the young man the diplomats speak of is high, but Kaios wasn't sure.
Kaios thought only snapped when Garvin speaks up.
