The Imperial Citadel of Esthirant

The destruction of the Navy Headquarters assured the destruction of the Imperial Fleet. Now the only standing military branches of the Imperial Armed Forces are the Army and the Dragon Corps.

"Damnit!!"

Arde firmly smacked the war table as a staff officer read the report.

"If this kept continue, then the Empire's end is assured." The marshal muttered.

"Sir. The Royal Court has called an assembly!" Another staff officer reported.

"Prepare the carriage! I will arrive at the Court in meantime!" Arde ordered as he took his bicorne and walked out from the war room.

House of the Royal Court

The House of the Royal Court, not far from the Imperial Palace. The building itself was a small palace of the former king of Esthirant before being transformed into the House of the Royal Court.

Inside the meeting chamber lies a long table. The members of the Royal Court sat on one side, while the rest of the cabinet sat on the opposite side.

The chairman of the meeting sat at the very end of the table, on the side of the cabinet.

"The meeting shall begin!" The chairman announced.

"What the hell was that!?" One court member immediately demanded.

"How can you let the enemy attacked the capital, marshal!" Another one shouted.

"The enemy are simply superior in everything! Their so-called fleet is just a flotilla of eight ships!" Arde argued.

"Nonsense! Such defeat is unacceptable! Those barbarians must be punished!"

"Our regular fleets have been decimated! The reserves were left. Even so, the reserves aren't ready yet and is dealing with the rebellions!" Arde continued.

"What an excuse! Mobilize the reserves and fight the barbarians! No matter what!" The head of the Royal Court said.

"Your Grace, please understand. If we mobilize everything, it means we withdrew every forces from our colonies! Rebellions and uprisings would be inevitable." Arde argued once again.

"Your Graces. What Marshal Arde said is correct. We mustn't mobilize every of our forces! The colonial gendarmes are unable to suppress the rebellions at once!" The director of the colonial affairs department said.

"Mobilize! Those barbarians in the colonies wouldn't even dare to initiate a revolt against the Empire! Their lives is depending on us!"

The rest of the cabinet remains silent. Most of their matters weren't even important anymore here as the argument heated up.

However, Director Kaios observed, carefully hearing every one of the court members words and excuses.

"Shouldn't this be discussed with His Imperial Majesty?" The chief minister of the cabinet asked.

"His Imperial Majesty had given us the mandate to govern the Empire while he is absent. Discussion with His Majesty is not required!" The head of the court said.

"But in such situation, we must discuss this with His Imp—"

"Don't you hear me, chief minister!?" The head of the court interjected.
