The Jacksons.

What was there to say about my family?

While there are many things to express about us, one thing I could tell you right off the tip of my tongue is that we were a lively family, hailing from the small town of Gary, Indiana, who many of you today would refer to as your first family of music.

But before our sudden rise to fame, we were a middle-class working family struggling to make ends meet. My father, Joseph Jackson, worked tirelessly at a steel mill, while the matriarch of the Jackson family, Katherine Jackson, took care of the responsibilities at home, such as looking after my siblings and me.

Despite the hardships, music was always at the heart of our family. My brothers especially loved singing and dancing around the house. Sometimes, they would gather in our modest living room to perform, singing, dancing, and even making instruments from household objects.

Their passion and dedication to music soon led them to form the Jackson 5, a group that would change our lives forever.

Their big break came in 1968 when they signed with Motown Records. From there, our lives changed forever. The boys went from performing at local talent shows and strip clubs to topping the charts with hits like "I Want You Back" and "ABC."

Though people often assume otherwise, our family's rise to stardom was no easy task. Like every superstar or global phenomenon, we had our fair share of struggles too. My father worked tirelessly, day and night, to provide my brothers with the opportunities they needed,to book their gigs and eventually, get them signed..

and though, I may have had some sort of head start in my career, I faced those challenges as well.

Many people believe they know my family's story just from what they see in the media. But, the truth is they don't. They know only of what we allow them to know, and everything they happen to know, isn't everything.

My name is Emoura Reillette Jackson, but you all know me as Emiya Jackson. I've decided to write this story for you all to share with you, not only the struggles my family and I faced within the music industry, but within the early years that shaped us into who we have become today.

This is the full story, this is..... unfolded.
