daydreaming: the activity of thinking about pleasant things that you would like to do or have happen to you, instead of thinking about what is happening now

Vance and Griffin were at the grab n go, where Griffin was buying snacks and Vance, was (obviously) on the pinball machine. They were waiting for Billy to go watch Finney Blake, (Robin's boyfriend) play at a baseball game. At first, he didn't want to go but their mom insisted Vance should come and he can't say no to her so, there he was.

"VANCE!!! Come onnnnn, Billy is outside waitingggg." Griffin said, trying to pull him away from the machine. This made Vance lose, but he wouldn't be angry at his little brother so he just nodded and smiled. Griffin giggled and ran out of the store with his bags of snacks, so excited even though none of them knew shit about baseball. This made Vance smile, he loved his brother, they were 4 years apart, which might explain why Griff only has friends that are a bit older than him. Billy, the town paperboy, was 12 almost 13, Finney was 13, and Robin was also 13. Vance was 15, and people his age were usually scared of him. It was strange, Griffin's friends made him feel welcome, they weren't scared of him or anything.

But anyway, they started to make their way to the baseball field, and they could spot Robin easily since he was waving them over. They all said hi, and quickly moved their attention to the field where they could see Finney waving at Robin and smiling, except that's not what Vance was looking at, he couldn't help but look at the boy on the opposite side of the field, on the other team. He was beautiful, to Vance he was the most beautiful boy he had ever seen. Vance felt his face get hot, and he made a mental note to ask Finney the boy's name. It was clear he didn't go to their school, but he had heard about a new family moving in the neighborhood, which means new students. The whole game, Vance spent daydreaming, with his chin in the palm of his hand. He told himself, he knew he was made for him, and he couldn't wait to hold him in his arms. Dude! He didn't even know the boy and he was in love! Man was head over heels (spoiler!) for this boy!

"Vance!!! Helloooooo????" Griffin said, snapping in Vance's face, making him zone back in. "Finally!! Now come on we have to see Finn!!!" Vance looked around standing up slowly trying to find the boy, and he was talking to Finney. Vance ran down the bleachers and skedaddled next to Finn, hoping the boy would notice him, and he was right.

...

Bruce looked at Vance gulping slightly, he looked... handsome he thought. His blue beautiful ocean eyes, that huge hair, his arms, gosh did he love his arms, all the muscle, the stern look on his face, Bruce loved it. He wanted to speak but his mom called him back so they could go home, so instead he just said bye to Finn and left.

...

Vance, determined to know this boy, asked Finn super important questions, "That boy what's his name? Does he go to our school? How do you know him?" Finney laughed, telling him to calm down, "Okay okay, that's Bruce, he just moved here, I think down the street from you actually! We were in a little league together that's how we met."

Bruce, Vance thought to himself, Bruce and Vance, Vance and Bruce, Brance. He suddenly found himself being dragged along, as Griffin had grabbed his hand as they made their way home. Vance told himself he would talk that Bruce, even if it was in years to come.
