Want to get serious with your writing?
The Orange World is a place for everyone—whether you're a new writer looking to put your fun ideas on paper or a more serious writer aiming to take your skills to the next level. Below, we'll give you a rundown on the nitty gritty things and opportunities you may consider joining if you're interested in taking your writing further!

Formatting, statistics, and ranks
A few miscellaneous things you may not know but can take into account are the statistics and rankings displayed in your stories.

A story ranking is a way to give great stories the recognition they deserve. It also helps readers discover new content on Wattpad. With story rankings, stories can rank on multiple Hot Lists at the same time simply by adding tags to them! The rankings are based on a variety of factors, including the story's 🔗read count. A few small-scale tips you may find helpful are that Wattpad has one standard font, Din Next Rounded LT, as its primary typeface. However, you, as a writer, can write with a different font by changing your phone's font settings or using a font generator from the internet.

For the most part, all fonts will work along with the formatting options on Wattpad. Some fonts, though, don't support italics and bold formatting. You may 🔗read here about some fonts that have been reported as not compatible with Wattpad's formatting:

Also, if you're experiencing formatting issues when copying and pasting into Wattpad, please read 🔗this article for some suggestions on how to fix it.

Promoting your stories

With those in mind, promoting your story can be done in many ways. Following other writers and reading their work is one way; engaging with others in conversations and discussions is another. There are lots of ways you yourself can promote your stories and encourage readers in a respectful manner. Read 🔗this article to get a list of suggestions.

Another way you can bring attention to your story is by letting Wattpad promote you. How do you get your story promoted by Wattpad? In the next section, we'll give a few pinpointers to this exact question.

Special offers and opportunities
Wattpad offers various opportunities to aspiring writers with great stories. Stories are automatically promoted across Wattpad through hotlists, recommendation modules, and algorithms. But there's more!

One opportunity for you is Wattpad Picks. 🔗Wattpad Picks is where Wattpad spotlights unique and amazing stories hand-curated by Wattpad staff. It includes a variety of different lists, some that which are permanent and some which rotate with the seasons and events in the world. Read more about the selection to join works 🔗here.

Another opportunity is 🔗the Creators Program. Writers who join this program will write stories that we call Wattpad Originals. Every Wattpad Original represents an immediate, engaging, and commercial narrative, and they all fall under one of the clearly defined verticals, each tailored to specific reader and writer experiences.

🔗What is a vertical?
A vertical is a category or group of books that share a specific theme, genre, or reading style. These books may have similar cover designs to make them easier to find.

The Vertical Framework, which is essentially the guidelines that Wattpad encourages stories to follow to participate in this opportunity, can be read 🔗here.

Some stories are required to be serialized to be considered for opportunities. Other opportunities prefer completed stories. You may find what the differences are between those two below:

Additionally, you may read under what criteria your story will be selected for in 🔗this article.
