campus - vampire weekend
• • •
Grace Colten walks arm in arm with Ania Jonhson and Roger Davies. Smiles plaster on their face, snow landing on their hair, noses red from the cold, beanies on their head. Hogsmeade weekend after Christmas is Grace's favourite.
She usually is alone as Ania and Roger spend the holiday with their families. She loves walking the cobbled streets of the village, wandering to Gladrags wizardwear and dream of all the dresses she will never be able to buy and to end her journey to to see if they have anything she doesn't in her herbarium.
Being with her friends this time brings her so much joy. Sure, Grace Colten is used to being on her own but there is no such thing as being with the one you love.
"It feels weird with all the students here at Hogwarts at this time of year", Grace says, white smoke coming out of her lips from the cold. "It's usually me and Filch's cat."
Roger frowns. "What on earth are you doing with Filch's cat ?"
"Agreed to take him on a little walk once and a while."
Ania's face imitates Roger's and she turns to her. "Sometimes you think you know someone and then they tell you they take care of Filch's cat."
Grace rolls her eyes. "I'll meet you at the Three Broomsticks. Got to make a detour by Dogweed. See you."
They nod and Grace heads to the herbology shop. She greets the owner and walks toward her.
"Hello. Is there a chance you have any Alihotsy leaves ?"
The owner shakes her head. "I'm sorry dear, they are very hard to find. I'll make sure to let you know when I find some."
Grace greets her and walks towards the Three Broomsticks to find Ania and Roger on a table at the back of the room. She orders a beer and comes sit with them.
"What did I miss ?" she asks.
"Roger was telling me how good the physical act of love was with Delacour", Ania answers, raising her eyebrow.
"You call it that way and still manage to shag ? I'm impressed, Davies."
"Sorry for being a romantic, Colten. At least I do the physical act of love", he adds looking towards Grace.
"If you call it like that one more time I swear to Merlin I'll leave this table Roger", Grace says and Ania bursts out laughter.
"Do you have news about the second task, Roger ? From Fleur ?"
Davies shrugs. "We got nothing. I'm trying to help her figure it out but it's a bloody hard riddle, I'm telling you."
"Is it linked to the egg ?" asks Grace.
He nods. "It is, yes. But we first have to understand how it works. We can't seem to open it or something."
"Sounds like a challenge. I could take a look, if Delacour agrees", Grace offers.
"Sure. I could ask her".
A loud group of people storms in the pub, singing and shouting, before taking the last table available at the other side of the room.
"Merlin, does Gryffindor have to be so damn loud all the time ?" Grace complains.
"And a nice evening to you too Grace" Angelina Johnson's voice rings and they all turn their head towards her.
