Neighbors

South Lake wasn't far from our neighborhood. I used to walk to it by myself to get things off of my mind. When I met Matt the first thing I took him to was this lake. It was always too cold for us to actually get in the water but it was very relaxing to lie in the fresh green grass beside it. Since South Lake wasn't that far from our neighborhood it was a very short drive. We both get out of the car and run to the edge to dip our feet in. It was warm for once.

"Today's a good day the water is actually warm!" Matt yells as he jumps in pulls me along with him

I start to choke from not catching my breath before. Matt saw I was struggling so he pulls my arm out of the water.

"Em are you okay?" He asks

"I'm fine" I say in a shocked expression while hugging him

"I shouldn't have pulled you in without telling you I'm sorry"

"Matt its okay I'm not dead, it was a funny joke"

"But you could have died"

"But you were here to help me. Thank you" I say while looking into his eyes

"Your welcome" He says as he leans in to kiss me

Still in shock I don't move.

We kiss.

It wasn't just a "kiss". It was probably the best kiss ever, the kiss that would be known forever.

Wait. Matt just fucking kissed me. I immediately pull back from the kiss.

"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that..." He says quickly

"It's okay; I'm really tired actually could we go home?" I ask

"Yeah. Yeah of course let me get your towel" He says awkwardly and walks away to get my towel.

I get out of the lake and start to shiver.

"Here this should help" He says and I start to walk to the car

The car ride was awkward as fuck what made it even better is that there was traffic. 5 o'clock rush hour, everyone was getting off of work.

"Are you really tired or do you want to leave because I kissed you?" Matt asks out of the blue

"Honestly?" I ask

"Honestly."

"Well honestly I am very tired but I really liked the kiss" I say

"Really?"

"Yeah it was great way to say sorry for almost drowning you haha"

"Funny, why didn't you kiss back?"

"Well I was still in shock from almost drowning and I didn't really notice we were in a kiss until reality slapped the shit out of me" I say

Matt laughs. When we finally get home I walk inside just before my mom gets home and get changed into sweats and a white tank top.

Matt finally gets to my house with a bowl of his mom's soup. She loves to make me soup when I'm sick or "sick".

"Now I know that my mom got the memo to yours" I say and chuckle

"It's chicken flavored this time"

"Ooh something different"

"She's been experimenting" He says and laughs

I hear my mom open the front door.

"I'm home" She yells

Matt and I turn on my TV and watch whatever random channel I left it on the last time I watched TV.

She walks upstairs and stands in my doorway.

"Awe how sweet Matthew's mom made you soup" She says

"Yeah, it chicken flavored" Matt responds

God Matt enough about the chicken flavored soup

"Sounds delicious Matthew. How are you feeling?" She asks

"I'm feeling better, Matt definitely knows how to make someone feel better when sick" I say

"You guys are just too cute! I ship it" My mom says

"Did you just say you ship it?" I ask

"Yes I want to feel hip." She says

"Have any questions about sex? Go to itsyoursexlife.com for more information" My TV says

We were watching MTV

"Speaking of sex..." My mom starts to say

"Goodbye mom!" I start saying and get up to shoo her away

"ALWAYS USE CONDOMS" she yells from down the stairs

"That was embarrassing" I say

"Em I practically live here more embarrassing things have happened" Matt says and we laugh

After watching a couple episodes of teen mom I start to fall asleep.

"Goodnight Em" Matt says as he kisses my head and leaves my room
